What I Wore for Christmas

Outfit deets:
* Dynamite faux leather blazer which you have seen many times, like with this black and white striped dress and of course was a gift from my parents last Christmas.
* Ardene dress (new!); I picked this dress up for $15 (!) the week before Christmas and they also had it in gunmetal sequins with a black chiffon bottom.  Run to your closest Ardene (if you're in Canada) to scoop this baby up as they are 50% off.
* Accessories:  Ardene (rose gold) belt, unknown tights & Aldo bangle (and again, not wearing shoes this year because I was at my parent's house and we stayed in for dinner).

Merry (belated) Christmas!

As I sit here and type this, I'm recovering from one of the nastiest bouts of flu I've ever had.  Sadly, I have been bed-ridden for the past two days, barely able to keep anything down or even climb out of bed (so fun!).  I'm finally starting to feel on the mend, but still stuck in bed and that's where I will be ringing in the new year.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and/or holiday, I absolutely did, and will share more with you 'next year' (hehe).  If you are planning a night out tonight, please be safe and have a ton of fun.

...Annnnnd, if you still don't know what to wear tonight, here is some inspiration!

Upcoming posts:
* Christmas Gifts.
* Christmas Recap.
* 2012 Recap.
* Cirque du Soleil Recap in Montreal (we made it there and back in a horrible snowstorm!).
* Annual Girls' Christmas Exchange Gifts.
* My new glasses (sneak peak!).

New Years Eve Outfit Ideas

What to wear for New Years Eve?

I personally love sparkle & sequins and say this is the perfect opportunity to rock 'em.  If that's not you, I've included some options without all the glitz that are just as festive.

Be sure to check out my NYE outfit video as I didn't include two of the looks here, so watch the video to see those (both dress options, including what I will be wearing!).

Outfit deets:
1.  F21 sequined top (old), Urban Planet shorts & Llliana heels.
2.  Stitches top (old), Dynamite pants & heels from Ross.
3.  Dynamite peplum top, H&M pants, Lilliana heels & Joe Fresh jewelery.
4.  Jacob blazer, Urban Behaviour top, Dynamite sequined shorts (new!) & Aldo heels.
5.  Dynamite top, Jacob jeans, Report Signature heels, Suzy belt (worn as a necklace) & H&M bangle.

Travelling in a Snowstorm

I am currently en route to Montreal to see Cirque du Soleil, a gift I received for Christmas! So exciting.

Unfortunately, we awoke to a may-jah snowstorm this morning and the roads are less than desirable to be traveling on. However, we are still going.

Here are some snowstorm snaps. I'll check back in tomorrow but until then, travel along with me on Instagram.

Christmas Exchange Fun

On Thursday night, Sarah and I got together at her place for dinner and an early Christmas gift exchange.  She made pasta, I brought poorly wrapped gifts, and we had a merry time.

Sarah had (ahem) bragged that she got me 'the perfect gift', which stressed me out to the max trying to return the favour, so to speak.  She ended up getting me a beautiful (over-six-feet-tall) wooden and metallic giraffe (to replace this guy) and it really was the perfect gift.  I got her a couple pairs of shoes (Guess & Dolce Vita), a few pieces of costume jewelery, long gloves and a nutcracker she was coveting (which turned my gift, as well, into 'the perfect gift'; or so she said).

I'd love to share some photos with you...

Exchange

Outfit deets:
* Joe Fresh jacket.
* Winners top.
* Ardène pashmina & shoes.
* H&M pants.
* Accessories:  gifted belt, MK bracelet & Swarovski bangle.

Funny how the last time I wore these pants it was in a eerily similar outfit.

So last night I was supposed to get together with Sarah for our Christmas gift exchange but she turned up with the flu and the evening was cancelled.  We are going to try again for tonight, which is pretty exciting.  Dinner, drinks, my bff and presents?  Hello.

Happy Thursday!

Navy Faced Watches

I love love love navy blue.  It's classic, unexpected and not a lot of people wear it (yet?).  I have a few watches in my collection but wouldn't mind adding a navy-blue faced one to it.  These are nice, but I'm still waiting for something to really dazzle me.

Ready for Winter

Outfit deets:
* Old Navy jacket (old) last seen with black skinnies (in a favourite outfit post) & again with a dress (and the same colour scheme as the skinnies post).
* Mexx top (new!).
* Target pants from my trip to Florida (haul video).
* Spring boots which you've seen in my Bundling Up video.
* Aldo purse which you've seen in my Fall Fashion video.
* Accessories:  H&M scarf & Aldo fingerless gloves.

Ready for winter?  Well not quite, but is anyone ever really ready?

Holy crap you guys, Christmas is a week away and I'm on a major time crunch to finish my shopping.  I am definitely getting there but still need a few more things.  Also the wrapping.

Ugh, the wrapping.

Does anyone out there actually enjoy wrapping 46 gifts in a row?  I mean, one or two, or seven even... but multiples of tens?  No thanks.  It's a miniature nightmare to me. But alas, it must be done and so while I could start my wrapping now, I'll likely leave it to the last minute and then kick myself for doing so.

Does anyone else feel like Christmas is coming too quick?  I certainly do.  I almost wish December was two-months long (ha, that doesn't really make sense, but you get me... right?  I hope?... Crickets?  Anyone?) so I could really prepare and get in the holiday spirit for longer, pre-Christmas.  I love this time of year, the hustle and bustle, the music, the parties, the shopping and more.  I always get so sad when Christmas is over... the big build up and boom, it's done.  Wah wah.

I'm blabbering and I should be wrapping, so with that, have a wonderful December day! xo

Christmas Party Make-Up

                                                                    Before & After

My friend's wife, Tahmina Miah, is starting her make-up business and so I went to see her to get mine done for a Christmas party yesterday.  I requested a bold, smokey eye and a pink lip.

She totally nailed it and I was in awe of how cool my eyes turned out (talk about a blending genuis!).  If only I could do my make-up like this on my own (ha!).

(click photos to enlarge)

Outfit deets:  Jessica Simpson dress, J.Crew bubble necklace, unknown tights, Liliana pumps (close-up) & vintage (thrifted) clutch.

How To: Wear a Sequined Skirt

In case you missed my 4 Ways to Wear a Sequined Skirt video, I thought I'd share the still photos I took while making it.

Since the holiday season is upon us, there are often holiday parties to attend and cocktails to sip.  And what if you don't have a holiday party to go to, but just want to wear those sparkly, sequiny, shiny and fancy items that are bedazzling the stores right now?  In this case, a sequined skirt.  Well, I've got an option for everyone.

From left to right:

1.  Casual glam.

Pair your v-neck t-shirt with your sequined skirt for a laid-back look.  Add some cap-toe pumps, a long necklace and chunky bangles to complete the look.

2. Office glam.

A patterned top and leather-accented blazer make the perfect business meets sparkle attire for the office.  Add some peep-toed slingbacks and a chunky necklace for some edge.

3.  Feminine glam.

A sheer campus top in a festive colour take this skirt from day to night.  Pair it with some sky-high bronze metallic heels and you're ready for dinner with your man.

4.  Edgy glam.

I took a men's white tee from Walmart and cut it into a tank top for this look.  I made the sides extra open so the black lace bandeau would peek through.  Add opaque tights, wedge booties and a chunky necklace to party all night long.

1.  Joe Fresh tee, H by Halston shoes, Ardene necklace & Bijoux Terner bangles.
2.  Jessica Simpson blazer, Smart Set top, Guess shoes, Bijoux Terner necklace & Detox cuff.

3.  Urban Planet top, Smart Set cami, Bamboo shoes & Ardene necklace.
4.  Walmart men's tee (cut up), Ardene bandeau, unknown tights, Aldo boots & Dynamite necklace.

Mixing Leopard & Stripes

Outfit deets:
* Smart Set ruffled neckline top which you have seen with dark denim (a favourite post, too).
* Sirens dress pants (old) that are actually long enough for me to wear with heels (shocker).
* Accessories:  H&M belt, Bijoux Terner bangle, Bay ring, Gucci shades & consigned necklace (no brand).

I love love love mixing stripes with leopard and this was kind of my first time doing it.  Later that week I did it with polka dots.

So, how is everyone doing with their Christmas shopping?  I'm rolling along quite nicely, considering how stressed I was last week.  Do you ever find that one awesome gift for that one person and feel so much better?  Like a whole bunch of stress has been lifted as you can now focus on the small stuff, last minute items and stocking stuffers.  I'm so excited for Christmas and while my shopping isn't yet complete, I'm getting pretty close and that's a relief.

Happy 12/12/12!

Weekend Recap: iPhone Snaps

Unlike the weekend before, this past weekend was extremely busy and eventful involving a Christmas luncheon, two birthday celebrations (for one special person) and a full day dedicated to filming my upcoming vlog.  Here are some snapshots...

On my way to our work Christmas lunch on Friday.

 What I ate: Angus burger with goat cheese & portobello mushrooms (and coleslaw on the side).

 Friday night hair prep.

Friday night outfit.
Outfit deets:  Joe Fresh dress (old), unknown tights & Aldo booties.

 Friday night dinner:  Smoked salmon |  Fish tacos

 Saturday morning we awoke to a crazy snowstorm (it was still green up until then).

Saturday night birthday festivities, hosted by yours truly.

I got a couple bottles of red...

Made ceasar salad with real parmigian & proscuitto instead of bacon.

And cooked filet for dinner with sweet potato mashed, asparagus & sauteed mushrooms.

Happy Birthday MSP!
(Creme brulee-raspberry cheesecake)

 ...and later on we noshed on a special cheese / meat plate.

Sunday morning french toast (made with left-over multi-grain baguette from the cheese plate above).

 I spent Sunday afternoon filming my upcoming vlog (see previous vlogs here).

My sister sent me a pic of my uber adorable niece, Piper, all ready for Christmas.

 After filming and hair still done (wearing my extensions).

Trying to get some work done... excuse me miss.
