Outfit deets:
* Billabong skirt (new!) (similar).
* Accessories: Le Chateau cuff, MK bangle (gift), Gucci shades & Sirens necklace.

I have a bit of a problem finding dressing that are long enough for me #tallgirlproblems, so what I like to do sometimes is wear a snug fitting (cotton) skirt underneath to lengthen the dress and make it more work appropriate.

That said, I certainly would prefer to find dresses long enough, however, people often think the skirt is part of the dress--which is kind of the point, and a win-win--and bonus, it helps get more mileage out of your clothes.

A couple other posts with a skirt under a dress:

Outfit deets:
* James Perse dress that I bought in Vegas (see my haul video here) and shared in the fitting room on Instagram.
* Accessories: Auslini bangle, Pier 1 ring & Gucci shades.

With the weather heating up, it's nice to bring out some warmer weather clothes, like this James Perse t-shirt style dress I picked up in Vegas.  I love the fact that the fabric is doubled up and ruched to camouflage any areas that need some help, despite being a snug dress.

Lately I've been really paring down on my accessories, case in point: no necklace with this outfit.  I've left the house several times in the past few weeks without a necklace which was a strict no-no for me in the past (necklaces are my jam) but for warmer weather, it just seems less fussy with less jewellery.  That said, I always need something on my wrists and knowing me, since I've now put it out there, next week I'll be piling on statement necklaces like nobody's business.

Outfit deets:
* Chaps dress which you saw in my Summer Event Wear video last year.
* Joe Fresh cardigan which you've seen with a similarly printed dress (which I no longer own) a few years ago.
* Liliana wedges (a personal fave) which you saw in my Punta Cana vacation outfit post, and when I first purchased them.
* Accessories: Limite necklace, MK watch & Gucci shades.

Today is my last day in Vegas; I'm taking the red-eye home tonight.  It's been a really fun week with far too much walking!  I'm ready to put heels on, driving and eating a little healthier.  That said, I will definitely miss the great view, not making the bed (haha) and having no set routine each day.

Hope you have all had a great week--who's happy the weekend is here?!  My plans don't include much since I will be home around noon on Saturday and since I've never flown a red-eye before, I can imagine I will need to sleep the majority of the day away.  Sunday will include the norm after any trip: unpacking, laundry & of course giving Eve some loving.  Have a great weekend!

Outfit deets:
* Vero Moda blazer (new!) that I picked up on Boxing Day.
* Serrani Italy dress from The Bay which you've seen in my What to Wear to a Wedding video last Spring.

We are having a serious warm snap--is that even a term?--right now so taking these photos outdoors wasn't completely unbearable, hooray for that.  The wind on the other hand?  It had a mind of its own.

I don't have too much planned for this week, I'm trying to leave it open in case there are last minute things to tend to for the baby shower I've planned for this weekend.  I want to share with you all so badly what I have up my sleeve but it will have to wait until afterwards as my bestie reads my blog and we're not in the business of spoilin' surprises up in here.

Happy Tuesday!

Outfit deets:
* Jessica Simpson dress (new!), I picked this up recently on clearance at The Bay, it was originally over $100 and I got it for around $40 #superscore
* Forever 21 heels (new!) that I'm obsessed with and loving despite my former dislike for chunky heels.  I'm diggin' the chunky heeled look and think this is going to be a major trend.  You saw these in my recent haul video.
* Accessories:  Gucci shades, H&M necklace & random bracelets from F21 and gifted.

Outfit deets:
* Nine West dress from The Bay (new this summer) which I love.  I showcased it in my, 'What to Wear to a Summer Event' video.  The a-line silhouette is not my typical pick but I love how I feel in this and it is very figure flattering.  I've only worn it a couple times in a few months because it's so unique looking but it would be perfect for picnics, a baby or bridal shower, a lunch date and as I wore it: for work.
* Gap cardigan (old) in navy.
* BCBG nude peep-toe pumps (old).

The quality of these pictures turned out terribly, and because I was using my point-and-shoot, I didn't realize until I was exporting them off my camera.

Ugh.

Whatever though, I wanted to share because the outfit was pretty and I felt good in it.  Additionally, I post fewer than few outfits so really can't afford not to share this one.

The good news is the weekend is almost here and tonight is my last volleyball game before the tournament in a couple weeks.  I joined a beach volleyball league for the first time this summer (I've only ever played indoor before) and while I have enjoyed it, the get-sand-in-place-UOENO, has run it's course.  Basically I'm sick of having a permanent hair-washing date every Thursday night so cyanara beach v-ball.

And a fun one from the 'gram...

Outfit deets:
* Dynamite faux leather blazer which you have seen many times, like with this black and white striped dress and of course was a gift from my parents last Christmas.
* Ardene dress (new!); I picked this dress up for $15 (!) the week before Christmas and they also had it in gunmetal sequins with a black chiffon bottom.  Run to your closest Ardene (if you're in Canada) to scoop this baby up as they are 50% off.
* Accessories:  Ardene (rose gold) belt, unknown tights & Aldo bangle (and again, not wearing shoes this year because I was at my parent's house and we stayed in for dinner).

Merry (belated) Christmas!

As I sit here and type this, I'm recovering from one of the nastiest bouts of flu I've ever had.  Sadly, I have been bed-ridden for the past two days, barely able to keep anything down or even climb out of bed (so fun!).  I'm finally starting to feel on the mend, but still stuck in bed and that's where I will be ringing in the new year.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and/or holiday, I absolutely did, and will share more with you 'next year' (hehe).  If you are planning a night out tonight, please be safe and have a ton of fun.

...Annnnnd, if you still don't know what to wear tonight, here is some inspiration!

                                                                    Before & After

My friend's wife, Tahmina Miah, is starting her make-up business and so I went to see her to get mine done for a Christmas party yesterday.  I requested a bold, smokey eye and a pink lip.

She totally nailed it and I was in awe of how cool my eyes turned out (talk about a blending genuis!).  If only I could do my make-up like this on my own (ha!).

(click photos to enlarge)

Outfit deets:  Jessica Simpson dress, J.Crew bubble necklace, unknown tights, Liliana pumps (close-up) & vintage (thrifted) clutch.

Outfit deets:
* Dynamite jacket (old) which you've seen many times, but a favourite outfit post with waxed denim almost two years ago.
* Joe Fresh sweater dress.
* Sirens leggings.
* Bumper booties (old) which you have seen with skinnies, an all grey outfit, and (my favourite) a skirt + leather jacket combo.
* Accessories:  OASAP clutch (c/o), Ardene pashmina & gifted square bangle.

Christmas is quickly approaching (hello, less than a month away!) and I'm becoming frantic.  I need to take a breath.  I have started my shopping, but it feels like there is still so much to do; I haven't even decorated my place yet.  Now I know it's not December yet, but, I always say November 20th is the 'go-ahead' day for all things Christmas, for me at least.

Last year at this time, my apartment was pretty ugly.  I was using hand-me-down furniture (from the 90's) as we were waiting for our house to sell (and in turn, keeping the house staged).  And in all honesty, I felt a little depressed that I couldn't decorate for the holidays.

Well, I could have decorated.

I just felt it was kind of pointless, considering the furniture and coldness of the place.  Still though, it didn't feel Christmasy and I was happy to spend several days at my parent's place surrounded by a beautiful tree, tiny ornaments, garland-laced railings, festive lights, a fire place, and more.

This year is different though.  My apartment feels like home as I have my furniture and have created a space for myself that feels like myself.  Additionally, there is no longer an eye sore that is my living room (ha!).  Ish.  I am so excited for Christmas that, although I really shouldn't be bringing more stuff into my apartment (it's already quite full), I went to my parent's house a few weeks back and picked up a big chunk of my Christmas decor.  I love decorating with reindeer and trees, and tend towards larger pieces.  The stuff has been sitting in a corner of my dining room, but this week I am determined to decorate.  Let's get this Christmas party started!

Do you decorate for Christmas?  Do you have a theme?

*** I have been listening to a local radio station that plays Christmas music 24/7 now, it makes me so happy.  #thelittlethings

Outfit deets:
* Urban Og dress (old) and seen with nude wedges and turquoise earrings (I sense a sub-concious theme here).
* Accessories:  J.Crew bubble necklace, Swarovski bangle and vintage (thrifted) clutch.

I wore this to a baby shower last weekend and it felt so pretty.  I purchased this dress over a year ago, wore it once (on Canada Day, last year, with red flats) and washed it.  The netting part at the top got kind of ruined in the wash and I threw this dress in the, 'To be altered (or fixed)-pile'.  Well, I finally stitched all the loops back together that had come undone with my sewing machine when I was making a top for myself and can now wear this (and always use a lingerie bag to wash it now).

Thankfully when I was getting dressed (in a rush), the sun was beaming into my room and I noticed that the dress is completely see-through!  OMG.  I quickly pulled out a long tank and bandeau top and made a make-shift tube dress to rock underneath to ensure full coverage.  Imagine showing up at a baby shower, not realizing you're pretty much flashing everyone and having nothing to rectify the problem with?  Eep!

Happy weekend!

 Outfit deets:
* Lori B dress (thrifted).
* Costa Blanca blazer which I've had for about a year now but haven't worn it on the blog.

* Diva Lounge wedges (you know I love these) which you've seen with white skinnies & two different white dresses.
* Accessories: F21 belt, H&M bangle, Foster Grant shades & Dollarama ring.

What are you doing for the weekend?  I'm hosting my sister's bridal shower on Sunday and have lots of last minute prep to do for that.  Otherwise, heading to the Katy Perry movie with some girlfriends tonight with some snacks and drinks afterwards.  A great kick start to the weekend.  Have a great one!
