Dom Rep Baby!

My friends and I have decided to get away this winter, and before the Christmas season.  We just booked our trip to the Dominican Republic in November, and I couldn't be more excited.  My last and only time I've ever been to an all-inclusive was for my honeymoon, so going with friends is definitely a different experience that I'm really looking forward to.

We are staying at the Sirenis in Punta Cana for a week. The idea of going away prior to Christmas is something so foreign to me, as if anything, I have gone away in February/March the past few years.  It's very exciting to have a trip so soon and to kind of kick of the winter with!

(Pssst, did you also know I'm going to Vegas next month?!)

Night Rider

So this totally happened tonight!  I have a friend (of a friend) with a motorcycle and we went for a ride tonight.  Amazing.  I have rode a motorcyle before, but I've never been on the back of a sport bike

What a thrill!

We had a great time, took a long ride up in the Gatineaus, sat and watched the sunset and came back into town for some patio action.

My summer was just made.

My Sister's Bridal Shower

Outfit deets:
* Spense dress (from Ricki's and no longer available).
* Bamboo wedges (old) that are like real sized Barbie shoes and I've worn with a pink skirt in a pretty (tulip) garden post a couple years ago.
* Ardène hat (above) & Giant Tiger stripe hat (below, similar).
* Accessories:  J.Crew Bubble necklace & Joe Fresh bangle.

We held my sister's bridal shower at the end of July on one of the hottest days of the summer.  A party that was planned for outdoors was quickly moved inside prior to the bride's arrival as we were sweating just setting up some chairs and a tent.

The theme was garden tea party meets Kentucky derby and we asked all the women to wear, 'Elaborate hats,' which was a total hit.  I picked up my sister's white sun hat from Ardène and it was eventually decorated with ribbons and bows from all the gifts she opened.

The food consistent of an amazing watermelon tea pot filled with melon balls, finger sandwiches, chic veggies & dip, cheese, crackers, meat and spinach dip.  The lemon cupcakes with blueberry icing were a big hit and served on a cake stand I made specifically for the event.  To drink, we served a mix of rosé wine, mimosa's, flavoured waters and non-alcoholic punch.

We played many games, including one where I asked the bride trivia questions about her husband-to-be (I already had the answers from him) and when she got the answer wrong, she had to eat three gumballs.  She had quite the wad by the time the game was over!  I'd love to share some pictures of our afternoon:

* Accessories:  Aldo belt, Walmart necklace & Joe Fresh bangle.

I feel like I have some serious writer's block right now.  What to talk about... what to talk about...

Today. The Only Day.

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry.
Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
One of these days is yesterday with its mistakes and cares,
Its faults and blunders, Its aches and pains.
Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.
All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday.
We cannot undo a single act we performed.
We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone.

The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow.
With its possible adversities, Its burdens,
Its large promise and poor performance.
Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control.
Tomorrow’s Sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds,
but it will rise.
Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.

This just leaves only one day . . . Today.

Any person can fight the battles of just one day.
It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity’s -
yesterday and tomorrow that we break down.
It is not the experience of today that drives people mad.
It is the remorse or bitterness for something which happened yesterday
and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore live but one day at a time.

Girly Girl

Outfit deets:
* Urban Og dress (old) and seen with nude wedges and turquoise earrings (I sense a sub-concious theme here).
* Accessories:  J.Crew bubble necklace, Swarovski bangle and vintage (thrifted) clutch.

I wore this to a baby shower last weekend and it felt so pretty.  I purchased this dress over a year ago, wore it once (on Canada Day, last year, with red flats) and washed it.  The netting part at the top got kind of ruined in the wash and I threw this dress in the, 'To be altered (or fixed)-pile'.  Well, I finally stitched all the loops back together that had come undone with my sewing machine when I was making a top for myself and can now wear this (and always use a lingerie bag to wash it now).

Thankfully when I was getting dressed (in a rush), the sun was beaming into my room and I noticed that the dress is completely see-through!  OMG.  I quickly pulled out a long tank and bandeau top and made a make-shift tube dress to rock underneath to ensure full coverage.  Imagine showing up at a baby shower, not realizing you're pretty much flashing everyone and having nothing to rectify the problem with?  Eep!

Happy weekend!

Konad Nail Stamping Kit

Nail Polish Canada sent me a Konad Nail Stamping kit to try out.  I love trying new things but wasn't sure how I'd feel about this as I'm not big into designs on my nails (unless it's like an angled neon french mani).  However, after trying it immediately upon receipt on me and my friend at work (yes, it's that quick and easy), we both agreed it's pretty cool.  Then I did this fresh mani with some Zoya nail polish I already had and loved it (and got many compliments!).

There are seven designs to choose from on the disc that are each super intricate.  The process is pretty simple:

1. Paint your nails, let them dry.
2. Paint the disc/design with the polish that comes in the kit.
3. Scrape it off with the provided blade.
4. Pick up the design with the rubber stamp.
5. Transfer it to your nail by simply rolling the stamp across your nail.

Voila!

Simple and looks so great.  I don't like the idea of stamping each finger, so I just stamped one on each hand.  This would look great on toes too.

Exciting News!

So yesterday my BFF won an all-expense paid trip to Vegas for four days and to see the iHeartRadio music festival.  How cool is that?!  They called her on live radio and told her she won at 8am yesterday morning.  They woke her up.  What a way to be woken up!

Naturally she was taking her husband with her...until he realized the dates conflict with something work-wise and he can no longer attend.

So she picked me to go with her instead.

WHAT!?

We are going to Vegas in a month!

I. Am. Stoked (and grateful!).  Can't wait!  I've never been to Vegas and this cannot come quick enough.  How crazy is this?  We are officially on a shopping ban until then.  Wish us luck.

Vegassssss.
