Las Vegas Recap

4am at the Ottawa airport, Thursday morning.
Outfit deets:  Gap denim jacket (DIY'ed), H&M tank, Max Studio skirt & Rachel Roy pashmina.

Going to Las Vegas with my bestie, Sarah, last week/weekend was amazing.

We walked a ton (we did at least 10km the first day.  Ouch!), shopped even more, ate great food, saw the I Heart Radio concert and just enjoyed being on vacation.  We stayed at the NYNY hotel which had the comfiest beds ever and was right on the strip (and across from the MGM Grand).

It was a quick four days and while some people say that is more than enough, I personally feel as though we only scratched the surface of Vegas.  I can easily say I would love to go back.

I took a ton of photos (and several videos but that still needs to be edited together before I can share with you) and would love to share...

At the Las Vegas airport after about 15 hours of traveling.

First Vegas meal:  Chicken tortilla salad at America in the NYNY hotel.

A special Moet (and fancy cheese plate) surprise awaited us when we got to our room (!!!).

Bright and early on our first day we woke up at 5:30am and made our way
to breakfast at 7:30am.  We had steak & eggs (for $5.95!) at Pampas.

Our hotel from afar.

After breakfast we spent the day shopping (and walking the strip).
Outfit deets:  F21 romper (that was Sarah's and she gave to me! Yay!), Bamboo gladiator sandals & Foster Grant shades.

We grabbed a quick NY pizza dinner at our hotel before the concert on Friday night.

Ready for the I Heart Radio concert!
Outfit deets:  La Senza top, Costa Blanca skirt & clutch and Aldo wedges.

On Saturday morning we headed out for breakfast and more shopping.
Outfit deets:  Lola romper (new from Vegas!), Spring gladiator sandals & Target bandeau swimsuit top.

We ate a late breakfast at Zingers: worst. french. toast. ever. (for realz)

 The strip from a walk-overpass.

After spending over eight hours shopping, we were too exhausted to go back to our hotel to get ready for dinner, so we just went straight to eat at Diego (in the MGM Grand).  Afterwards, we went to Fiamma for dessert and tea (and where this picture was taken).

Combo plate at Diego:  chicken enchillada, fish taco & beef burrito.

Dessert & tea at Fiamma (tiramisu for me!).

On our last day we got up early to get breakfast and take a walk down the strip.
Then it was onto the airport to catch our 11am flight.
Outfit deets:  Sirens lace top & shorts, Garage tank, Bamboo gladiator sandals & nameless bag (from Winners).

 Steak & eggs (again).

Sad to be leaving Vegas, despite our smiles.
Outfit deets:  Sirens top & leggings, H&M tank & Bamboo gladiator sandals.

The Best Peanut Butter Cookies

These peanut butter cookies have kind of become 'my thing', especially around the office.

Since they are such a fan favourite and so easy (and gluten free!), I thought I would share the recipe (ahem, thank you Kraft).

Peanut Butter Cookies
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Mix ingredients with mixer. Form into little balls and place on cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with a fork. Bake for 8-12 minutes. Enjoy!

Birds of a Feather

Outfit deets:
* Urban Planet top (new!) and picked this up when I was shopping prior to filming my Vlogger entry video (I paid for this myself).
*Smart Set cami.
* Sirens pants which I've had forever and are actually long enough for me to wear with heels.
* Payless heels which you have seen with a black & white striped dress (and can I just say I feel like I'm in flats in these shoes?  They are awesome).
* Accessories:  Stitches necklace, Suzy ring, F21 bangle & Gucci sunnies.

Life is ca-razy right now.  I just got back from Vegas (amazing times!) and my apartment is a disaster, I haven't even unpacked yet but did manage to get some other stuff done.  Work is busy busy and I'm playing catch up.  My sister is getting married this weekend and my Grandpa just landed in the hospital.  Needless to say, things are quite hectic.

I haven't had a chance to go through my Vegas photos yet, but I have been posting some on Instagram if you care to check that out.  And in other exciting news, I'm meeting my new boss for my Vlogging gig today for lunch to sign my contract and discuss everything (exciting!).  Otherwise, I'll do my best to get those up and hope you're having a great week so far!

Weekend Recap: iPhone Snaps

These are a little late, as they are from the September 14 - 16 weekend, but it was such a great one I couldn't not share these pics...

We had a bake sale for charity at work; I made Peanut Butter Cookies and won third place!

Friday night comedy club & drinks outfit.
Outfit deets:  Winners top, Sirens leggings & Bumper booties.

Getting my hair coloured on Saturday morning...

...the aftermath.

Saturday I worked a modelling gig for Renée Levesque boutique (like I did back in May).
I took home that top on the far right and am in love.

Stuffed chicken with a pesto reduction and toasted pine nuts, garlic roasted mini potatoes,
asparagus and a caprese salad.  Go me!

Sunday was the big Vlogger finals/shop-off (here I am as they announced I was the winner!).

Celebratory drinks afterwards.

Ah-mazing penne alfredo with fresh scallops, roasted red pepper and mushrooms for Sunday night dinner.

From the Sky: iPhone Snaps

It was a whirlwind of four days in Las Vegas with my bestie. We did a lot of shopping, walking and eating. The I Heart Radio concert was amazing and I'll have a full recap for you all coming soon. Till then, here are some pictures I took from the plane.

Hello Vegas!

Waiting at the airport at 4am and very excited.

Hello from Vegas!! We arrived yesterday afternoon after a long 12-hour day of traveling, but we are so happy to be here.  We are up early to head out for breakfast and then shopping.  Tonight is the I Heart Radio concert, which we are really looking forward to.

Just wanted to share a few photos with you to keep you in the loop and wish you a very happy weekend!  Full Vegas recap next week.  xo
Woke up (at 5am) before sunrise this morning and snapped a couple shots from our hotel room as the sun rose.

Tan tattoo & milk on the plane (my fave!).

Upon arrival and sitting pool-side.

A Mile a Minute

Outfit deets:
* Urban Planet top (new & purchased during the shop off for the Vlogger contest).
* Smart set cami.
* Dynamite ruched tube top worn as a skirt.
* Aldo wedges (last year but still available!) which you have seen with denim skinnies.
* Accessories: Aldo rose gold leaf necklace, Gucci shades & MK Watch.

Life is cray cray (crazy) right now & I feel like I'm going a mile a minute!

Sorry for the lack in blog posts this week thus far, I haven't even done my Weekend Recap yet despite having an amazing and busy weekend because I wanted to post about winning the Vlogging Contest first and farmost and I seriously am running from one thing to the next!

Work has been nuts, my personal life has been hectic and I still haven't packed my bags for Sin City yet (and um, we fly out at 6am tomorrow... less than 24 hours!).

I will be bringing my laptop with me to Vegas in hopes to stay in touch and promise to have some fun stuff lined up for next week (and my sister is getting married next weekend too!  Eep!).

I Won the Vlogger Contest!

I'm cutting right to the chase:  I won the Vlogger Search contest yesterday!

In an exhilarating, competitive and super fun day, I came out on top for the Fashion Vlogger search that was happening at my local mall.  I couldn't be more excited!

So after all of you amazing people voted for me on Facebook, and placing first (thank you!), I was called back yesterday to compete in the finals against nine other Fashion Vloggers.  Upon arriving at the mall, we collected our name badges and signed in.

We were called to the stage at 11am and took turns introducing ourselves in front of the judges and audience (I was totally nervous).  From there we were given our challenge:

They gave us $200 gift cards to shop and find the following fall fashion trends:
* Shape
* Texture
* Colour
* Pattern

Then we were off.  We had an hour and a half to complete our shop-off before returning to the stage.

My strategy was simple: find an item for each category, and then go back and 'beef up' my haul with additional pieces and remaining money.

I picked up key pieces: peplum & envelope (shape), waxed jeans (texture), polka dots & leopard print (pattern) and hunter green, rose gold & burgundy pieces (colour).

Once we all returned, we took the stage to take turns pitching our findings to the judges and growing audience.  The order of presenters was randomly draw and guess who was picked to go first?  Me.  Cue the butterflies!

We had five minutes to talk about what we purchased, as if filming a vlog, with a microphone and a small chair to put our items on (should we choose).  I gave it my best and although I forgot to say many things (like how I only had 33 cents remaining on my gift card; talk about stretching your money!), I must have done okay as I was chosen to be the next Fashion Vlogger for the mall.  So exciting!

So here's the deal:  for the next six months I will be given $300 per month to shop and vlog twice per month.  These vlogs will be posted on the Place d'Orleans Facebook Page and I'm hoping I can post them here for you all as well (if not, I will certainly link up).

Thank you again to all of you who voted, sent kind messages, congratulated me and more!  You're awesome & I couldn't have done it without you!

Now, onto some photos!

The judges deliberated and then each spoke about the winner, without revealing her (me!)...

...and then they announced that I was the winner!
I will admit I did the 'dance of joy' as per my Grammy, on stage:

Here is a list of the girls who participated that have blogs:

(And a few more fun photos on Instagram, if you'd like).
