Layer your dresses:
For look #1, I grabbed two dresses from my closet, this recently purchased colour-blocked navy/cobalt dress from Smart Set & a charcoal turtleneck sweater dress.  I layered the warm knit under the boxy shift for interest and warmth.  I threw on a faux leather blazer and my trusty Aldo wedge boots to finish off the look.
If you want to take your layering one step further, try a pair of patterned tights over your opaque ones.  Both my pairs are black but you could get creative with different shades if you wanted a less subtle effect.

Pair something casual with something dressy:
For look #2 I grabbed this Le Chateau silk blouse and paired it with a chunky, short-sleeved cardigan I've had for a while in my closet.  I always felt this sweater could only be worn casually but I've taken this look to office appropriate with the heels and jewelery.

Layer your accessories:
Stay warm and look chic in look #3 where I'm pairing my new fingerless gloves from Garage, layered over a pair of regular gloves.  This would work with mitts as well; feel free to mix in some colour to offer dimension & interest.  Not only does this look cool, it adds extra warmth in the winter.

On Friday night I headed out to my parent's place to celebrate my brother-in-law's 30th birthday.  Obviously I had to get a pic with this little girl.

Saturday morning breakfast out after hitting the gym.

On Saturday afternoon I did a little shopping and ran some errands and it snowed.  No joke.  I kid you not.  I wish I was.  Snow.  Ick.

Outfit deets:  Banana Republic dress (old), Report Signature shoes (old), Givenchy nude fishnets & Aldo clutch (old).

On Saturday night, my Grandfather invited Marco and I to a special dinner for his lodge.  It was held at a conference facility, so think banquet style for dinner and a DJ for dancing later. It was a group of about 100 and a really nice meal and evening with them.  And, there were prizes for ladies only and while every woman won a prize--mine was a super soft micro fleece blanket--I won a second prize, a $50 gift card to The Keg--so exciting!

On our way home, we stopped by a house-warming party for a friend and indulged in amazing food and wine.  I snapped this shot at the end of the night when I was back in my jacket (which is vintage and thrifted a couple years ago).

Sunday morning gym sesh; I don't normally wear long sleeves except when I (1) need to do laundry or (2) want to cover up a bit--note the short shorts and super fair skin?  Someone needs a spray tan… someone is also being a little lazy lately.

I spent Sunday afternoon working with a client.  We did a closet purge and styled over 20 outfits.  Then we went shopping to help build her wardrobe with pieces she needed.
Outfit deets:  Mexx cardigan (old), Winners top, Urban Planet leggings (new!) & Aldo boots.

I had Monday off for Remembrance Day and went to the gym in the morning and came home and had some breakfast.  Later I used what I had in my fridge to make some lunch: spinach with a maple balsamic dressing and grilled veggies (peppers, red onion & sweet potato).  I lounged around and eventually got ready as I had a couple errands to run but was feeling crummy.  I went out and just started to feel worse and was home within two hours of leaving.

On my way home, I quickly grabbed some groceries and made fajitas for myself for dinner.  I devoured them and got in bed for 8:30pm feeling pretty terrible.

And the video I filmed last weekend has gone live and it's all about bundling up for winter so if you haven't seen it, go check it out HERE.

Happy Tuesday!

Today I'm sharing with you some fun, warm finds to get you bundled up and ready for the colder weather.  From casual to chic, I've picked up something for everyone but of course have shared my favourite--which to discover, you'll have to watch the video!

As always, thanks for watching & stay tuned to the Place d'Orleans Facebook page for more videos!

Outfit deets:
* Jacob sweater which has become a fast favourite since I got it back in August--they still have it, btw--and you've seen it in my Back to School video,  on the weekend for date night and another night with friends & I also recently picked it up in off-white because I love it that much (and there was a 25% off promo).
* Urban Planet leggings which are very much like dancer leggings, they're shiny and I was a little uncertain about them at first but now they've become my go-to, aside from my faux leather ones.

Thursday already?  Awesome.  This week has flown by, apparently, only known by the fact that it's Thursday.

I've been staying up late and sticking to the sheets every morning--a horrible routine to get into.  On top of that, it seems I've lost all motivation to hit the gym when last week I did seven days in a row!  Wah.  I've managed to go four times (including Saturday & Sunday) but once was yoga and does that really count?  I recently started adding yoga to my fitness routine and I'm still unsure about it.  I've been very anti-yoga for many years as I've never really enjoyed it but, if it's getting me to the gym with less groaning, I guess it's better than nothing and at least I'm moving my body.

Only a few days left to vote for me in the Dynamite model contest & the MiB Canadian Blog Awards.  I'd be so thankful if you could click those vote buttons for me (thank you!).

Today I'm sharing with you what's in my fridge... why?  Why not.  When I filmed this, I talked about everything I held up and why I like to buy or keep it in my fridge but decided that was kind of boring and too long so I sped things up to keep it quick and interesting.

Thanks for watching!  xo

* Reitman's sweater (via Place d'Orleans) which is new and oh-so-cozy!
* Urban Planet leggings (new!) which I shared in my most recent Colour Pairings video.
* Accessories:  midi ring by Spring.

Struggling to figure out what to wear with faux leather leggings?  How about a cozy sweater and some boots; quick and easy and completely pulled together.

These photos were taking in between filming my next PDO video on Sunday.  The weather was quite chilly but ultimately it was a beautiful day with sunshine.  So bummed the weekend is over; who lives for the weekend?  Say I!

Voting is still going on for my nomination in the Made in Blog Awards and to be the face of Dynamite.  Please click the links and vote for me, I would really appreciate it!

I'm back to taking tons of photos so I've got a full recap to share with you from this past weekend.  I had a great weekend and am ready to kick off the week with a bang--or at least try to (I mean, who really likes it when the weekend is over?!).  I'd love to share some photos with you...
On Friday night, my girl friend came over and we had a feast.  She brought wine, anti-pasta, fresh bread and some delicious pastry cookies.  I made a hearty spaghetti squash with turkey sausage, chicken and veggies.  We stayed up late chatting and she showed me her new H&M finds--which make me want to go to H&M this week.

Saturday morning I met my boo at the gym and we did a shoulder workout.  He snapped this photo of me as we were leaving the gym--I'm standing in the 'Boot vestibule'.
Outfit deets:  Bench jacket, Lululemon hoodie & bag, Ardene tank, Walmart leggings, Uggs & Joe Fresh snood.

We grabbed lunch at Chuck's--yay--and I had the same chicken-bacon panini with crisp veggies and a lentil salad.

Saturday evening.
Outfit deets:  Garage beanie, thrifted jacket, Club Monaco scarf, Jacob sweater, Urban Planet leggings, Aldo boots & cross-body / clutch.

We had a super late dinner at El Camino around 10pm--since we'd had a super late lunch--which was amazing per usual.  Soft tacos & beer?  I'm always down for that.

Sunday morning workout was back day.  Then we grabbed some breakfast which I didn't snap a photo of, but, you know the deal.
Outfit deets:  Sirens top, Joshua Perets tank, Walmart leggings & Nike Free 3.0.

Saturday afternoon was spent filming my next Place d'Orleans video, which should come out mid-November.  This was one of the looks, can you guess what the video is about?
Outfit deets:  Reitman's sweater (new!), Urban Planet leggings & Aldo 'Klarr' boots (all ℅ Place d'Orleans)

Post-filming and freezing!  I sat in my car, heat blasting, seat warmers turned on max for a good five minutes before my fingers thawed and I could drive.  It was so cold filming outside--three degrees Celcius--and doing outfit changes, and in true Amanda fashion I forgot to wear socks so when I was switching between boots I was standing bare-foot on frozen grass #dummie.

Salad snack to fuel me before I got down to editing.

Hours and hours of editing before getting a finished product that I'm happy and proud of--seriously, about six hours of editing.

Taking a break from editing for Greek on Wheels for dinner (my fave!).

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a great weekend.

I know I just asked you to vote for me for the MiB Awards--which is still going--but I am in the running to be the next face of Dynamite, one of my favourite stores!

Please head over to my page and vote for me, it takes three seconds and I would greatly appreciate it (thank you!).

October please don't go.

Hmph.

The longest month is gone and it leaves me dreading what comes next: cold, snow, and more cold.

While I will get in the Christmas spirit sooner rather than later, I can't help but feel a bit depressed at the long cold winter we have ahead of us.  While I am grateful I live in Canada, I yearn for a warmer climate year 'round.

Enough whining, on to the recap!

In October I took the best photos of myself yet (thank you beginner photography class and 45 minutes of free time), I got a pair of boots lowered and I hosted the #MYVIPNIGHT at Place d'Orleans.  I visited Kingston with my boo, had a second pair of boots lowered and swooned over my almost-three-month-old nephew.  I wore shorts one weekend because it was so mild, celebrated Thanksgiving with family (and filmed a vlog that weekend) and went to the gym every weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

I enjoyed the beautiful colour of leaves--or at least stood in them and looked down--and swooned over this Bench jacket (which I ended up purchasing the other day!), and did some shopping for my most recent video on Colour Pairings.

I went out for breakfast a few times, shared a Minnie Mouse DIY Halloween costume, had a great lunch at Chuck's and purchased the last Phillip Lim for Target bag (eep!).

I have been included in the Made in Blog Awards as a Canadian blogger and could use a little help in the voting department.  Voting runs from now until November 18 and you can vote every day!

I'm listed in three categories: lifestyle, fashion & DIY.  I would love to get your vote in all three, if you would be so kind?  Voting is super simple and doesn't require a log in.

Here are the links to each category for voting:

Thanks so much for your help, support and reading along!

I have been wanting to film an apartment tour but the honest to goodness truth is that I'm pretty messy and this place is so small it gets messy fast.  So, in the mean time, I thought I would share a few photos I took around my place to share some of the details, if you'd like to see...

This sequin top is from Forever 21, last year, and I've worn it with denim to a party, and dressed down with black skinnies for work.  As it's pretty and delicate, I like to keep it on display in my bedroom, hanging outside my closet--plus it would likely get ruined being smushed between the other clothes.

I created a bed-side table out of three boxes; the bottom is an 'gator embossed box my sister gave me for my birthday one year and the other two are animal hair covered and from Home Sense.

The two picture frames are housing some black-and-white polka dot scarves I managed to flatten down.  It was meant to be a quick fix for empty frames until I had time to choose and get pictures printed and it's now been over a year.  Pfffft.

The chandelier lamp is vintage and belonged to my grandparents.  I have a matching one that sits in my front foyer on a small table.

I keep two large jars with lids to the left of the night stand that hold black, white, and turquoise pashminas as they kind of work with my grey/black/white bedroom colours.

The art on the right hand side is a favourite mainly because of the metallic and texture. This piece is displayed on the wall as you enter into my bedroom.  While I wanted something over my bed, this didn't really fit and I love the idea of putting a big statement piece somewhere unexpected.

I keep my clutches together and the majority in the brown basket on the left at the top (not really shown).  The overspill is what you're seeing and I love having my Asos feather clutch on display because it's so feminine and works with the colours of the room.  Additionally, I don't use it a ton so it's nice to have it out in the open as some sort of decor.  And if I can add one more thing, when you're in a space as small as mine, a lot of things become 'decor' (ha).

My living room furniture is old, but the pillows are new.  I got these two from Home Sense a couple months ago and shared them in a Home Decor Haul.  I meant to buy just the one at the back as it was on sale for $15, but then the one at the front was so nice too, I grabbed it.  They look great together despite the fact that I have far too many pillows in general.

Across from the chair--and another chair in leather that's beside it, which you didn't see--is my couch and another end table.  The lamp is a recent purchase which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it last Spring.  I scooped it up for $40 at Home Sense and it works perfectly in the space.

The boots are from Aldo and a couple years old and they are actually on display in my bedroom, but the colours worked to share it beside the living room furniture.

* The Condo Story: Purchasing My Own Place (which I'm still not living in)

I'm talking colour for this Place d'Orleans Fashion Vlogger video and what to wear with what.  I'm sharing with you some bold colour picks from a few shopping trips to the mall in this haul-style video and showing you how to pair colours, match colours and what colours to wear together.  While I love me some neutrals, colour always looks great on everyone.

On Saturday I hit the gym with Marco and then we ran some errands and I headed home to clean my apartment--what a mess!  Melissa came over for dinner and we had a really nice time with each other and wine.
Outfit deets:  Winners jacket & sweater, La Senza trapeze tank (black), Urban Planet leggings, Aldo boots (my shortened ones) & cross-body / clutch.

Sunday morning pre-workout.  Chilly mornings and days lately so I'm bundled in a scarf and hoodie.

Workout done--can't see the smile, but it's thur.

Home-made sausage & veggie omelet.

Sunday afternoon I headed out to PDO to finish up my shopping for my November video.  I didn't purchase this turtleneck from Roots but was tempted but the fit was off, for me.  I think thin, cotton turtlenecks are going to be big this year and if not, next year--so jump on it now to be ahead of the curve.

Sunday night dinner:  Marco made prime-rib sandwiches with sautéed onions, mushrooms, home-made gravy & havarti cheese.  #likewhoa
