On Friday night I went to a little get-together with some of my man's friends. It was somewhat of a potluck with the most delicious food in the most beautiful house. Since we got a crazy snowstorm that day, and my favourite boots had been soaked from all the puddles, I opted for my rubber boots over my skinny jeans. I rarely wear these but boy was it nice to have dry feet!
Here's a little known fact: I am not great at picking out wine. While I love it, I don't always choose the best ones. This wine, picked by yours truly, ended up being amazing so I took a pic so I'd remember to purchase it again.
On Saturday I spent the day doing a photoshoot for Place d'Orleans for an upcoming Spring Promo. The day consisted of meeting with a stylist in the morning, shopping for several hours for the shoot, and then the actual photoshoot in the afternoon. It was so much fun and I will share more later today.
Afterwards, I decided to do some shopping on my own, but not before grabbing a Booster Juice and putting my feet up for a rest (I love the Funky Monkey smoothie).
I'm still covetting the black Nixon The Time Teller and but The Camden, above in black,caught my eye on the weekend.
A successful day of shopping! I picked up a white tee, a beach hat (seen here at the photoshoot), a floral printy floaty top, a gauzy mint sweaty and a few other things.
That night was thai with my boy.
On Sunday, I went over to my parent's place for my Poppa's 86th birthday! My sister is pregnant (due end of July) and we are all so excited! Although I see her on a daily basis at work, we dont' have any photos together since she's been pregnant, until now. I think this is one we will cherish for many years.
My parents made spaghetti, ceasar salad and garlic bread for lunch...
...and an angel food cake with lemon icing (a family favourite).
I spent the afternoon and into the evening editing the video from our trip to Mexico. Hopefully will have this uploaded by tomorrow!
We decided to go out for a late Sunday night dinner date, and afterwards did groceries. #keepinitreal
Outfit deets: Old Navy jacket (old), Ardène pashmina, Almost Famous denim (old) & Deux Lux bag.
Come back later for a recap of the photoshoot from the weekend!

For my thirteenth video as the Place d'Orleans Fashion Vlogger, I'm sharing the hottest trends for Spring 2013!
They are:
They are:
* Floral
* Pastels
* Chambray
* Black & white
And exciting news! This was set to be my last video for my contract with the mall but they have asked me if I would stay on and continue as the Vlogger for the mall and I could not be more excited! I have learned so much with this experience and my videos and editing are getting better and better. Additionally, we have some fun things coming up soon which I will, of course, be sharing here.

I'm completely obsessed with strappy sandals / heels for Spring and Summer this year. Normally I love wedges and something less dainty, but this year, strappies are all the rage.
I am still really debating these Express ones (love the thicker and higher ankle strap) as I kind of know I shouldn't, but really really want 'em!
Are you feeling the strappy heel trend?
I'm terrible at taking outfit photos, especially since it's been winter here for the past, oh, I don't know, six months. Outfit photos inside kind of suck--bad lighting, boring scenery--but it's too cold to take them outside (except these ones turned out pretty good in my apartment). I wish I had the balls (ie. warmth) to take outdoor winter outfit photos, but I don't, so until it warms up, well, you know the deal (did I mention it's snowing as I type this?).
On the other hand, I do try and take a pic of my outfit daily and post it to Instagram (I'm @acoest1984). I post all of these under #acolookdowns if you're interested.
So what is everyone up to this weekend!?
Tonight there might be a party and tomorrow I'm doing a photo shoot for Place d'Orleans (via my Vlogger gig) for an upcoming contest. Very excited about this and will of course share photos with you on Instagram and all the details afterwards here on my blog. Sunday is up in the air, but something always comes up!
Have a great weekend!

Have you guys heard of FIG Clothing? I hadn't either until a coworker friend told me about the Canadian company based out of Montreal. Fast forward a few emails later and we were exploring the possibility of working together.
FIG Clothing is a line of clothes for women on the go. Their pieces are meant to take you from airplane to business meeting and everything in between--I wore mine out to dinner in Mexico, but could totally see myself wearing my Nev dress with a denim jacket and sandals for brunch or even over a bikini as it's a quick drying fabric.
Their clothes are meant to flatter and celebrate the feminine body and believe me when I say I felt feminine and confident in this dress (that added ruching in the tummy area is so flattering and forgiving; trust me, I ate a ton that night and while on vacation in general).
Everything is made in Canada and (best part!) they offer free shipping or you can check out the various stores they sell at in Canada and the USA.
* This post is sponsored by FIG Clothing. I was given the opportunity to shop with them but the dress was chosen by me. All opinions are my own and know that I truly love this line and would not share with you otherwise. As always, thanks for reading & for supporting my sponsors!
I think we can all agree we've dated some interesting people in the past, and there is a reason those people are in our past, right? Right. And I think with each relationship, we learn a bit about ourselves, our likes, dislikes and what we would consider a dating deal breaker.
And the obvious disclaimer being that it's important to compromise in a relationship and work together and blah blah blah. But let's get to the nitty gritty.
I can easily, off the top of my head, list off several things I do not want in a partner. It's important to me that someone is motivated to work hard, ambitious, has good hygiene, patient, friendly and easy going. I also cannot stand someone who is cheap (and have dated someone like that before and it was terrible, to say the least) or has a bad temper. These are deal breakers for me. Cannot see past them. Cannot accept them.
I know my own weaknesses and while I work on those, I look for strengths in my partner that I don't necessarily possess as it often creates a good balance and we can learn from one another.
What are your deal breakers and what are you willing to see past?
Le Chateau
Zara
* Tribal heels (just got an email notification these are available in my size again!)
Shoemint
* Brenda heels (which colour do you prefer?)

On Friday night my boyfriend took me to the California Wine Fair where you can sample hundreds of different wines from California. There were round tables set up around the room that hosted massive blocks of cheese, tiered fruit and veggie trays, sushi and more. They had a roast beef station in one corner with an array of gourmet sides (horse raddish, mustards, etc.). Needless to say it was a very enjoyable evening.
Since we hadn't eaten dinner, and cheese and more cheese doesn't fill you up that much, we grabbed a slice with gravy downtown (and more cheese!).
Saturday was spent with family and then I did some shopping.
Outfit deets: Everbuying jacket, Vero Moda top (c/o Def Shop), Sirens denim, Ardene flats, Aldo bag & Gucci shades.
That evening, we went to see a movie. I'm not a huge fan of going to the movies, but the film was really, really good.
Afterwards, we met up with my bestie and her husband for an impromptu late-night dinner and drinks. This burger looks delicious, but it wasn't that great, sadly.
Sunday I spent the afternoon and evening filming my next PDO Fashion Vlogger video.
Editing takes hours upon hours, but the finished product always makes it worth while.
A couple new earrings (Joe Fresh, Joe Fresh & Forever 21).
What does one wear to Fashion Week? I didn't know, and to only go for two days, not know what your itinerary is, nor what shows you're seeing, I am please with how well I packed--in a small rolly suitcase, might I add!
Since we were only going to Toronto for just over two days, I knew I would need two outfits for each day at Fashion Week (if in fact we were going both days, at the time, we did not know), something to wear around town, that would be comfy to travel home in, and of course the clothes I wore there.
I packed four pairs of shoes, as you can see above, which I thought was strategic and amazing. C'mon, four pairs for two days, you know that's not easy, especially when you don't know what you will be doing. I wore the hi-top wedges there, during our second day of sightseeing, and eventually to Fashion week (which wasn't planned), and on the plane home. They are comfortable, stylish and can work with multiple outfits.
The Ash olive green open-toe buckle booties were perfect for our first day at Fashion Week. I felt they were the edgy kick my on-the-chic side outfit needed, plus I was comfy on my feet for several hours.
The cap toe flats were worn once, when we had breakfast in the Diner of our hotel on the first day for breakfast (with leggings and an oversized t-shirt/tunic that I'm not showing you here), and sadly since it didn't work out for us to change after shopping for day 2, my cap toe heels never got worn.
* Max Studio top which you've seen with dark denim skinnies & also for Christmas dinner 2011.
* Zara utility style pant which you've seen casually on the weekend.
* H by Halston cap toe pumps (from my trip to Vegas; haul video HERE).
* Accessories: Joe Fresh necklaces (different seasons), Auslini bangle & F21 clutch/purse.
I never ended up wearing this outfit, sadly, as we didn't change for day 2 and just wore what we had on from our sightseeing and shopping. I love olive green and rose gold together, and I felt the pretty silk top, heels and rougher style pants really paired well together.
Leopard accessories:
* Ardène chain-strap clutch/purse.
* Cleo pony-hair belt.
Day 1 Outfit:
* Jessica Simpson blazer with faux leather sleeves, which you've seen with tuxedo style pants, with a sequin skirt & with a leopard tunic.
* Urban Planet ruffle cami from my Spring Vlog.
* H&M waxed pants which are probably my most favourite pants, currently. You've seen them at Thanksgiving, with my hi-top wedges, and with those cap toe heels up top.
* Ash booties that are definitely in my top 5 of all my shoes (but don't get the play they deserve; got to keep 'em fresh!) and you've seen them with black skinnies.
* Accessories: Sirens geometric necklace, Joe Fresh bangles (both gifts from my sister) and leather & metal bracelet (a birthday gift from a dear friend).
Travel outfit:
* Dynamite faux leather jacket which you've seen with a red pencil skirt (in one of my most favourite outfit posts ever), with a skirt and flats & in a very old outfit post but I like it (and had forgotten about it).
* Unknown silk tunic with a Jules & James chiffon tank (with zipper). I wore the chiffon tank over the silk one as the former is longer to cover my butt, but wanted some dimension with the chiffon.
* American Apparel leather-look leggings which you've seen with some bad-ass wedge boots (that I don't wear enough). I actually ended up wearing my new snow-leopard skinny pants I bought at H&M with this outfit instead as seen HERE.
* Hi-top wedge sneakers, which you've seen with a dress in Montreal for a concert & with my burgundy waxed pants (read all about them and where I purchased them HERE).
* Accessories: I re-wore the triangle necklace.
In case you missed it:
Outfit deets:
* DIY kiss print denim jacket (plain jacket is from Aeropostale (on sale now); love the big cuffs on this!).
* Thrifted vintage tank.
* H&M denim.
Happy Friday everyone! It's been a pretty busy week with being back at work after 12 days off--what luxury!--and keeping up with my evening extra curriculars. I've been having Internet issues and was unable to upload my birthday vlog so am hoping to get that done this weekend along with editing my Toronto trip (Day 1 & Day 2) vlog and my Mexico trip vlog (I foresee a lot of editing in my future, yikes).
Last night I played volleyball, but at a different spot than we regularily do on Thursdays and it was alot of fun. I ran into some people I used to play with several years ago which was nice. Afterwards, a few of us went out for some drinks and that cold beer tasted so good. Of course, the night ran long and I was dragging my butt this morning!
Tonight I'm going to a wine show, which I'm really looking forward to and have never been. The rest of the weekend is kind of up in the air, but I do need to film my next vlog for my PDO gig and edit that.
Have a great weekend!
And one more from Instagram (I'm @acoest1984)...
For my twelth video as the Place d'Orleans Fashion Vlogger, I'm sharing some great Spring Trends and finds that I picked up while shopping.
I'm loving neon again for this summer and definitely scored some great hi-lighter hued items, but for the rest, you'll have to watch!
Stay tuned for more videos (specifically on the Place d'Orleans FB page).

Day two (Friday) of Toronto Fashion Week was such a fun day and since we didn't have to be at Fashion Week until 5pm (and we weren't getting our hair and make-up done this time around), we had time to explore the city a little bit.
Again this post will be a little photo heavy so click the link below to see more pictures after the jump.
(Pssst, see Fashion Week Day 1 HERE).
I had never thought of this before until someone mentioned it, but, does it bother you when people use a 'couple photo' as their profile picture? For instance, a boyfriend/girlfriend duo that posts a picture of the two of them for the photo?
The argument I heard was that everyone has their own, for example, Facebook account, so why would you use a picture of two people when it's your own profile. Similar to your driver's license, it's a picture of just you, not you and your husband, etc.
Personally, this does not bother me, I think it's sweet and the person is who owns the profile is still in the picture and you can clearly distinguish who is who. On the other hand, I do find it kind of strange when someone uses their baby or child's photo as their PP; that clearly isn't you and you likely have an entire album, or six, dedicated to your child (I know I would, who's with me!?) so why not use your own face for the main picture?
This is a weird topic but how do you feel about it?
Three days before I left for Mexico, I went to Toronto with my bestest girl to take in Fashion Week. Maybelline hosted us, as we had entered a contest and they picked Sarah's name, and we truly lived like Queens for the two days we were there.
I have a ton of photos to share with you, so I'm breaking it up into two parts. Click the link after the jump to read on.
After coveting and debating these shoes all week in Mexico, I decided I would pull the trigger and get them, only to find out they are sold out of my size. What a disappointment; all that himming and hawing (and budgeting) for nothing. #wahwah
March has been one of the best months of the last year and I know I said February flew by, but March did as well!
In March I showed you how to turn your too-short maxi dress into a maxi skirt, I filmed more vlogs than ever and also did a kiss-print DIY. I added some fun summer trends to my wardrobe, went bare-legged and belted a top for the first time in forever (usually I feel this is just so restrictive).
I celebrated my 29th birthday with surprises (a trip to Mexico!), gifts, wonderful meals, a birthday peom and an overall fantastic weekend.
Then Sarah and I travelled to Toronto (courtesy of Maybelline) to attend World Mastercard Fashion Week (my first Fashion Week ever). We attended three shows and toured the city of Toronto over the course of two days. We visited the CN Tower--I'd never been--which was so cool and drank some fun drinks.
The best part of the month though, was travelling to the Mayan Riviera with my man for a beautiful week in paradise with lots and lots of coconut ice cream (and other great food).
Other look-backs:
* January
* February
Hello! I'm back from a beautiful, sunny week in the Mayan Riviera, and what an amazing trip it was. We filmed while we were there, so I'll let you know when I finish editing and uploading that.
We did so much while on vacation from climbing the Coba ruins, playing tennis, enjoying the beach, eating a ton and much, much more. I would love to share some pictures with you, but it's pretty photo heavy, so click the jump if you're game...
Hey everyone! I'm currently on vacation in the Mayan Rivera, Mexico with my boyfriend adn we are having a great time. We arrived at midnight on Saturday night (our time, so it was actually 10pm Mexico time which enabled us to get a late-night dinner snack, which was good as we were so hungry) and have been soaking up the sun, drinking colourful drinks and just relaxing (or trying to relax; does anyone else have that difficulty of just 'shutting down'? I know it always takes me a few days).
Things will be a little slow around here this week, but I'll be back to regular posting after Easter. We do have free wi-fi here--what a treat!--but I don't want to spend hours logged on, if ya know what I mean. I will have a full recap when I get back, plus more on Toronto Fashion Week and more.
Keep up with me on Instagram (I'm @acoest1984) while I'm away; talk soon!
Hey everyone! Sorry for the radio silence but the past couple days have been a whirlwind and I don't have wifi where I am (currently writing this post from my iPhone!).
In short, my bestie won a trip for us to World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto via Maybelline! They flew us here Wednesday night, put us up on a swanky hotel (The Thomspon) and sent us backstage at Fashion Week and to two shows. On top of that, gave her a cheque for $1000 to spend freely (we've had some great meals and done a bit of H&M shopping).
Yesterday, we got to the tents around 4:30 and were taken backstage. We had professional Redken hair stylists do our hair and Maybelline make-up artists for our faces. Backstage was craziness and so hectic. Models and people everywhere rushing around between shows! Once we were all ready, we were taken to the VIP lounge for a drink and professional photos then onto the shows! We saw the Soia&Kyo show and then the Rudsak show. Both amazing with beautiful outerwear. Tons of leather and fabrics mixed, fur lined hoods, vests and chunky boots. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to fall or at least incorporating some of this into my wardrobe now (via shopping my closet, mainly) before Spring hits (it's still snowing here).
Today we are going back to Fashion Week but don't know which shows we are seeing. We fly home tonight so are hoping to get some shopping in during the day today.
I'm Instagraming as I go and live-tweeting too so keep up with me there. Will have a full recap soon and we are vlogging this trip so ill have a video for you once I'm back from Mexico!
Have a great weekend!
Guess what you guys?! I'm going to Mexico! My boyfriend is taking me to the Mayan Riviera for my birthday and I could not be more excited (who gets a trip for their birthday!? What!).
I started packing the other night and put a pretty good dent into it. My suitcase is being filled with a lot of bright colours, wedges and bikinis (and cover-ups because I didn't pack enough of those for my trip to Punta Cana).
We are staying at the Aventura Spa Palace in the Mayan Riviera which is a five-star, adults-only resort and it looks beautiful. I can't wait to relax, spend some QT time together and indulge in a carefree week.
* Let's Chat sesh coming up so check back shortly!
