Look what just arrived in the mail!  So exciting.  Something I was coveting is now mine.

The best part?  I saved a good $50 by purchasing online, versus in store (see pic below, which I snapped a couple weekends ago after I had ordered these).  Here's how I did it:

1.  I logged into Ebates to check and see if the store I wanted to purchase from (Designs by Stephene) was there.  It was and with 6% cash back (that's huge!).
2.  I clicked on Designs by Stephene, on Ebates, and was transferred to the store.
3.  I added the Vince Camuto 'Kastern' sandals to my bag.
4.  I checked Retail Me Not for a coupon code and found one for 20% off.
5.  I applied the coupon code to my purchase and checked out.
6.  I received my shoes in the mail a couple weeks later and a cheque from Ebates shortly thereafter.
Shoes in store: $145.  Shoes online: $98.

It's a quarter to one on a Saturday night and I've been perusing blogs for a solid hour or more.  What is it about peering into someone else's life that is just so fascinating?  And discovering a new blog you immediately 'click' with?  Nothing compares.

The thing I love about blogging and reading blogs is that (1) it's totally, 100% free, (2) it's enjoyable and gives you a sense of 'feel good' feelings, and (3) it's something to do (to kill time, to enjoy your solo time, or whatever you fancy).

Tonight I have been reading everything from vegan raw cookie dough (I'm not vegan), favourite cleaning products and tips (and tricks), how sliding down a playground slide with a child in your lap can cause a broken leg (to the child.  I don't have kids, btw), marriage+sex, how to style rubber boots with outfits and more.

I love the vast variety of blogs that attract my attention and although I love fashion, I think I love even more a more 'lifestyle' approach to blogging because it feels like you get to know the person on various levels as opposed to just their style.  Now, don't get me wrong, I love carefully pouring over photos of stylish dressers alike, being inspired and in awe at times too, but I love more than just that.  Know what I mean?

ps - those shoes up there have absolutely nothing to do with this post except I purchased them on the weekend and am completely obsessed (as that tends to come with the territory of purchasing new shoes).  I kind of passed them by when I was looking at the shoes in the store and grabbed another pair to try on.  When I asked the girl to get my size, I noticed she was wearing the above shoes and they just looked so. cute. on. so I asked her to grab my size in those as well, what the heck!  I loved them but choked a bit on the price so put them on hold.  After a sleepless night (kidding.  sort of.) I decided they needed to be mine and went back.  I'm making tassels my thing.

I'm obsessed and coveting (so badly) a pair of Isabel Marant's Willow high tops.  They came out in October 2011 and are difficult to get your hands on now (eBay has a few pairs left as does La Garconne in the amazing ivory colour) but would you believe the colour and size I want is available on eBay?!  I'm dying.  I wish I could buy these so badly!

New shoes are always fun to receive in the mail!  These just came in and I cannot wait to rock 'em.  Of course the espadrilles will have to wait till summer (or do they?) but I couldn't pass them up as I knew they'd sell out quick (plus my size, 10, always sells out pretty quick.  Update: they only have them in black now).

I'm still debating what I will pair the boots with.  To be honest, they are kind of outside of my fashion box but I always try to push myself and expand my limits when it comes to my style.  I consulted a friend and she made a couple suggestions (shorts+tights+blazer or coloured skinny jeans+neutral top) but I was looking for a way to dress the boots up, especially for work.  She suggested a flowy style dress with sleeves.  Perfect!  Love that idea (do you have suggestions?) and hopefully I'll be able to show you guys soon.

Just a few new additions to the room.  These arrived while I was in Florida, so sadly I haven't worn them yet.  C'mon summer, I wanna wear these sandals.  As far as the wedges go, I'm planning a DIY for them and have already ordered the supplies, so stay tuned.

Must be something about those back zippers...

 These don't seem to be available in nude anymore but I did find them here in smaller sizes

Guess who's S|S 2010 collection just hit the web?  Yeah, Aldo's.  I'm already drooling over these patent nude wedges and guess what?  Sold out in my size already.  Gah.

My mom & I went shopping and out to dinner on Friday night and it was such a great night.  We spent so much time in the store that in the middle of trying on tons of clothing, an announcement over the loud speaker came on advising us they were closing!  We were totally shocked as the time passed so quickly and we were having a ball.  I bought several things but the 'splurge' ($80) of the night were these black Guess slingbacks (sneak tweet).  They were on an end cap of an aisle amongst other shoes, the only pair, and in my size!  I snatched them up and brought them into the fitting room with me and tried them on with the clothing I had in there and it was a no brainer.  They came home with me that night and I've already worn them two days in a room.  Love at first sight.

Well, shoes 4 through 7 have arrived and let's just say they are less impressive than 1 to 3.  I was so excited for these to come and to be honest, I'm really only happy with one pair.  The problem with ordering through Urban Original is it's not exactly worth it to send the shoes back.  It would be almost as expensive as the shoes themselves, and then you're out s&h charges twice (and duty).  Le sigh.  Regardless, I might take a couple pairs to a consignment shop and try my luck.

These are sadly too big.  The great part about these is the strap that goes around the back of your heel swivels to go across the front of your foot, if you'd like.  This works as it'll keep my feet locked in, however, I'm not a huge fan of the 'Mary Jane' look, which is what it gives.  However, I'm not giving up on them just yet, but ladies, if you order, size down one size.

The heels on these are massive, and I ordered 'black' and this is what came.  Technically they sent the correct shoes, but they are certainly not black, more like dark brown.  Not only do I feel like a giant when I put these on, I am a giant.   Now, that's not to say I don't have heels this high, it's just the combination of the massive platform and skinny heel that doesn't help.  Bad call.

 Lana

I love these!!  I'm so pleased with them and should have bought two more colours.  They are true to size and fit well.  Can't wait to some summer weather to rock 'em.

 Trey

These are a little big, and really high.  I'm disappointed, for sure.  I could have sized down a size and they would feel a lot more secure on my foot.  I was really looking forward to these ones so that's a bummer.

I mentioned that I purchased seven pairs of shoes (online) the other day and, well,  'half' of them have arrived.  These three are all from Aldo and I love them.

The grey ones are my fave and I've worn them twice in a week, which isn't usually the norm as I try to mix it up considering how many shoes I have.  They are the perfect shade of grey, a real elephant grey, real suede,  and they are easy to walk in and quite comfortable.

I'm not sure about the boots (despite coveting them) I really love 'em but online they are described as, 'Over the knee' and they certainly are not.  They barely  come to my knees, let alone go over them, so that was a tad disappointing.  Still, I really like them and got a great deal on them (50% off), however, they do remind me of these boots that I already own, minus the wedge.  Who am I kidding?  I'm so keeping them.

The camel-coloured suede wedges are cute, conservative, I suppose, but chic.  I love the detail on the heel and they are easy to walk in (honestly, for me at least, almost all wedges are easier to walk in than a regular heel, usually - and I do a lot of walking in my job, for an office job that is).  I've already worn them and am a big fan, however, it makes me realize I do really favour peep-toe shoes over closed toes.  I just do.

Lastly, I noticed that the boots are the same price I paid ($90) but both pairs of shoes have gone up in price.  I paid less than $50 each.  However, if you do decide you want them, don't forget to sign up for Aldo's email list to get 10% off your order.

 { all the now-free hangers }

 Something I dread doing is laundry.  It's not the simple task of washing the clothes and hanging them to dry (I don't mind this so much, it's certainly rewarding to see all your favourite clothes clean and yes, I must hang almost everything due to my height - one small shrinkage for some could be a very large shrinkage for me), it's the daunting task of finding a place to put the clothes once they are clean.  It's no secret I love to shop and have accumulated tons over the years, it's the storing of all these clothes.  Currently, I use half of the walk-in closet, 9 (out of 16) drawers in our bedroom furniture, the office closet (sweaters, hoodies & jackets) and 3/4 of the spare bedroom closet (dresses).  Wow, writing it out makes it seem like even more (ha).

On Saturday, I was folding massive piles of laundry, dreading the part where I'd have to find a place for it all, when I started to clean out one of my dressers.  Just out of nowhere, I started to purge.  I went through all those drawers and made a huge pile of stuff. I didn't stop there.  I marched into our walk-in closet and went to town.  I was ruthless - and it was shocking.  I made two piles:  donate & consign.  I ended up with two massive garbage bags full of clothing (donate) and a spare bed piled with clothes (consign). - over 200 items.  I literally spent all day and night purging and cleaning - exhausting but well worth the end result.

I invited a girlfriend over to paw through everything and she took 32 items and it barely made a dent.  The best part?  I still have closets full of clothing (that I love) and have made space.  Yes, it's still full, but I can actually push hangers to the side and slide the clean clothes in without using my bicep muscles. Score.

{ spare bed full of clothes - this picture was taken after my friend took home her share }

{ more clothes & one of the two garbage bags }

 { I reorganized my drawers and pulled out the bottom one to
find missing undies and tops I thought I'd lost forever - woohoo! }

 { AFTER:  walk-in closet}

 { AFTER: dress closet }

As far as organization goes, I keep like-items together and colour coordinate in my closets (I find this helps for getting dressed). In the picture of my walk-in, I have two clothing bars.  On the top bar I keep sleeveless tops that are colour coordinated which run into button-downs/oxfords.  On the bottom bar I put tops with sleeves and cardigans, also colour coordinated.  Above the top bar is a shelf where I keep all my 'in-rotation' purses and clutches.  I didn't get a chance to tidy this up so I didn't photograph it.

The dress closet is colour coordinated and for each colour and I go from sleeveless to sleeved and if there is anything with a pattern, it goes at the end of the colour block.

What you didn't see:
* Sweater & jacket closet (I didn't go through this closet as I'd cleaned it out not too long ago)
* Drawer organization (I'll save this for another post)

My most recent pair of kicks.  Picked these up in Toronto on the weekend while visiting the BFF.  We went to the Aldo Outlet on Bloor Street, and what an amazing store.  They have so much selection, and the best part: a huge clearance area.  I saw shoes from years ago.  Wild.   I was so pumped when they actually had my size in these (it's so hard to get my size, often, as they don't make many 10's and 11's).  I wore these out the same night I bought them and was pleasantly surprised that not only could I dance all night long, but they stayed put, without the ankle strap (unlike these which are beautiful but suck to walk more than three feet in, sadly).

These new wedges might give my favourite wedges a run for their money!
Speaking of, did you see my faves are super on sale now?

So here it is.  My shoe room.  Yes, we call it a room.  Tucked away in the basement storage room (not necessarily glamourous, but super funcational and not in anyone's way ... and might I add keeps my shoes organized and easy to find) is where I keep my shoes.  When we moved into our house (almost four years ago), my birthday was coming up and my parents asked me what I would like for my birthday.  I told them one thing, "Shelves.  For my shoes."  They obliged and bought me four eight-foot long shelves, and hubs installed them for me.  Since then, the shelves have multiplied and wrap around the room.  There have been three installments to get this to room to what it looks like today:  (1) putting up shelves  (2) adding more shelves and  (3) shifting shelves closer together to incorporate a fifth shelf plus another wall of shelves.  It really is a dream and I absolutely love it (and do feel very lucky).  Want a tour?

{ while I'm no stranger to heels, a girls gotta have some fresh whites }

{ I'm a huge fan and plan on getting these as my next pair }

{ these are some of my OTK boots, they don't stand on their own, so I fold 'em }

{ I'm sure you remember these? }

Some of you may remember these wedges from my covet post a few months ago.  Well guess what?  They are officially mine!  I'm on the Aldo mailing list and received a special promo code for one day only, for items on clearance only.  I quickly skimmed the Aldo site to find my beloved wedges 50% off, plus with the promo code I got an additional 25% off!  Eep!  They were delivered the next day (now how's that for good service?  And I chose the standard shipping...) and I've barely removed them from my feet all weekend.  A match made in heaven!

As most of you are aware the Fall season is quickly approaching, where has the summer gone?! In an effort to get ready for the fall trends you all must know what color will be the it color this season and a statement setter. This up coming Fall season violets, purples, and all shades of plum are all over the run way! These hues have always been an "it" colour during the Fall season, but this year you will see more of it everywhere!

{ Dark purple booties are a must have for fall }
