Writers block.  Or as I like to call it, Bloggers Block.  What do you do when you suffer from it?  I'll either ramble or write about something completely irrelevant, or just not say anything at all.  With that said, let's choose the latter and discuss hair colour.  I am a (mousy) brunette, but clearly you did not know this from my photos as I hide it quite well (yeah right).  Recently, my girl friend suggested I do some sort of major overhaul with my hair (yelp) and I must confess; the thought scares (the shit out of) me.  First off, I love being blonde.  Secondly, after chopping off five inches off my hair almost three years ago (into an asymmetrical bob), I've been trying to grow my hair out (and am very reluctant to cut any of it).  Finally, it's summer, and summer is not the time I want to really switch it up.  However, I might consider something drastic for the fall.  Would you?

My grandparents invited me to a special soiree a couple weekends ago.  I took advantage and dressed up in a new dress and heels.  Funny story: a middle aged woman comes up to me in the washroom and compliments me, she then tells me that when I walked past her table earlier, her sixteen-year-old son's jaw dropped, which was followed by his 18 year old girlfriend smacking his arm.  Nice to know I'm attractive to a teenager and I'm not 'old' (because I totally thought being a decade older than him would be, you know, 'old').  I had a good laugh and proceeded to receive a few evil eyes from said girlfriend.  Isn't love grand?

I'm alive!  I'm alive!  It's been a while, and I'm not just talking about my shoes.  Life has been busy lately and blogging took a short-term back seat.  This weekend I'm playing Nurse to my girlfriend who had surgery on Thursday.  We are lying in bed, getting in plenty of movies and started watching Audrina (have you seen it?  I hadn't and am now addicted... sadly there are only seven episodes and we are on the fourth already).  It's pretty gloomy out and the weather is calling for thunderstorms (um, perfect movie watching weather, right?) all weekend.

Hello lovelies, please forgive the slight absence - it's been a week and I was so busy and blah blah blah, who cares right?  All that matters is I'm back and that's that.

So let's talk cars.  I've decided I'm going to keep my car (I know, right, after the car shopping episodes and all) as it's the smarter choice right now.  I would love to have something new (I've had my car for quite a long time) but this just makes sense for now.  So yesterday I went to my parent's house and my wonderful Dad put my summer tires on, fixed my trunk latch, installed a new headlight switch (I've been driving around without lights... well, I had daytime running lights but those aren't very bright at night and I'd have to hold the lever halfway towards me in order to get the highbeams to come on... I know, a little bit ghetto, but,  since I was planning on buying a new car so didn't want to spend the $75 for a new switch) and replaced my burnt out signal bulb.  Having a (retired) mechanic for a Dad has huge perks.

After I left their house, I did a bit of shopping (Winners & Joe Fresh) and picked up a few goodies.  I'll take some pics and show you what I picked up (exciting).  Also, I know I promised you birthday gift pictures and I haven't forgotten, it's just life has gotten in the way and taking perfect pictures takes a lot of time!

Lastly, I created a vlog of my favourite hair products (as someone asked for that) and loaded it onto my computer and it crashed.  It won't even turn on.  Of course I didn't put the video on my laptop, that would just be too easy.  Le sigh.  So, you might or might not be seeing that video in the future.  On that note, does anyone have a good (free) video editing software?  Hook a sistah up.

You guys!  Something totally exciting happened to me on Monday night.  As some of you know, I do Zumba and have for two years.  I absolutely love this cardio work out and as a former dancer, it's awesome to be doing choreographed dance again (unlike when I just randomly dance around the house).

Back to the story exciting-ness.

So I'm in class on Monday, waiting for our teacher to arrive.  The class is set to start at 4:30pm, and there are about 30 women waiting.  Well, 4:30pm came and went and still no teacher.  A few minutes later, an employee of the gym told us our teacher was no where to be found and we could wait, but class would likely be canceled.  As we all stood around feeling defeated, one woman pointed at me and said, 'You should teach the class!'.  Another chimed in, 'Yeah, you're really good,' and then another, 'Yeah, do it!'.  Next thing I know, I'm fetching my iPhone from my locker and hooking it up to the stereo system in the class, jumping on stage and teaching an hour long zumba class.  What!?  I know.

It was so exhilarating and while I've had several people, including instructors, suggest I become certified to teach over the years, I've never actually taught a class.  I was so nervous but didn't want to go home either.  I came to sweat, and sweat we did.  I had some of the songs on my phone, the others I YouTube'd.  Sometimes I messed up the choreography and sometimes I killed it.  I even free-styled for one song which wasn't terrible and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.  At the end of the class, everyone was clapping and cheering like crazy for me and numerous women were coming up to me thanking me, telling me how awesome it was and how I should 'really look into teaching from now on', etc.  It was amazing.  Such a feel good moment and accomplishment.

It's that time: a new month, new resolutions.  I figured why not make some resolutions each month (here's the March list), seems more feasible then creating a list for the entire year, no?  The whole idea is that the resolutions have to be feasible (and sometimes enjoyable).  So what's up, April?  Let's do this:

1.  Whiten my teeth.  I bought Crest White Strips (totally been wanting to try them for a couple years but never pulled the trigger) and am on my way.  We'll see what happens.  They are on my teeth as I type... they feel funny.  Oh, and my teeth are already feeling more sensitive (uh oh).

2.  Figure out what the f I'm doing with my hair.  Am I going to highlight it (the norm) super blonde or am I going to phase in the ombre look?  I'm getting there with the ombre, but at this point it's just really bad roots that look greasy when they're clean.

3.  Mail a special package (that's been sitting on my dresser for months) to a special friend (I'm such a procrastinator - ugh).

4.  Buy a new car.  Okay, this is a pretty big resolution for April but I'm serious about getting a new car and definitely want to have it in time for summer.  I'm looking at one model but there are two engine types.  I've test driven one and am taking the other out this Wednesday.

5.  Make a clutch, a skirt and a scarf.  I bought the fabric, now it's go time.

PS - no tights.  I've officially ditched the tights.  I did it before April too, mainly because I took a trip to Florida and never looked back (slash had a tan... so what if it was a spray tan).

I'm writing this post from the guest bedroom on Sunday night.  Why Sunday night?  Because I always prepare the next day's post on the eve before.  Why the guest bedroom?  Meh.  Our desktop computer is completely f'ed and while it has been for a while, it's gotten worse hence my working from my laptop and well that can go just about anywhere.

Back to Sunday night: we went to husband's parents' house for dinner and as per usual, I stuffed myself.  It's inevitable.  Every time we go there, I stuff myself.  Did I mention my MIL is a chef?  Not by trade, by choice, and everything she makes is so delicious I can't help myself from going back for seconds (and thirds).  Tonight she made a maple-glazed salmon and chicken parm along with squash, carrots, cauliflower, baked sweet potato and dill-infused basmati rice.  I know, I was drooling too.  The best part: she packed me a lunch for Monday and I get to enjoy the tastiness all. over.again.

Yes, there is still snow, but it is melting.  And, as you can see, I braved it and took photos outside in short sleeves - aka, it was mild (otherwise, you'd be seeing photos indoors - this girl is a baby when it comes to the cold).

So guess what?  I broke my own rule and took off the tights before April 1st. What the hell, I've been in Florida, I have a tan (so what if I got a spray tan when I got home... shhhhh... but seriously, a white girl like me isn't going to get super bronzed in one week alone, gimme a break.  Plus, I want to have nice looking skin in 20 years, not wrinkly and leathery, so, I practice safe sun and always wear sunscreen and don't bake myself) so bare legs it is (not sure if I'll go bare-legged until next fall, but...).  At work everyone was commenting on how, 'nice and tanned' I was (if they only knew) and you know what?  I lapped it up because I love having a tan without the risk (and the fact that it's instant is pretty awesome too).

This week has been great and hectic, all at once.  I flew home from Florida on Monday.  Tuesday was my birthday (more to come on that) where husband surprised me with breakfast out, dual pedicures and then off to my in-laws for a special birthday dinner.  Wednesday I went back to work and it's already Friday - the weekend is almost here (woohoo!).  This weekend, the birthday festivities continue with one of my very good friends CG.  Hope you've all had a great week too and enjoyable weekends to look forward to.

I have decided to put together a mini resolution list for the month of March.  I already gave my resolutions for the year, but instead of adding to that, I'm going to check off a few new ones in a month alone.

1.  Rock dangly earrings more often.  Husband loves these (especially big hoops) and while I have a ton of earrings, I always revert to my tride-n-true studs (I even wore them for my wedding).  In the past two weeks I've purchased three pairs of dangly earrings and have already worn one of them twice.  Go girl.

2.  Floss.  Okay, this is kind of gross but I hate that shiz, but I'm making it my mission to make this a regular habit (so what if I have a dentist appointment on March 31st).

3.  Celebrate my 27th birthday.  This one might be inevitable as my birthday is quickly approaching and I cannot change that.  However, that said, I'm super excited for number 27 as this is an age I've been looking forward to for years.  No joke.  Also, I'm really just trying to bathe in this excitement of getting older as I might never feel this optimistically about it again.  Ha.

4.  Let my nails grow.  Over a year ago, for the first time ever in my life, I let my nails grow.  I'm not sure what came over me (well, actually I do remember admiring my bridesmaid's nails at brunch one day over the Christmas break and wishing mine were like hers...) but one day I just stopped.  I managed to grow them for almost a whole month and it was incredible.  I'd never seen my own natural nails that long and it was awesome.  Since then, I've let them grow and bit them off, let them grow and picked them off - it seems to come and go in stages.  I'm currently in a 'bite them off' kind of stage which I don't want to be, so, here's to March (and I say this as I sit here and pick my nails).

Do you ever wear the belt that came with something?  I never do.  Okay, it's super rare.  This is no exception.  I was itching to pair this navy and white dress with a yellow belt but didn't have one.  I looked through all my belts and the closest thing was a light lime green belt.  That is until I remembered I had this belt, which I don't think I've ever worn, that came with this dress.  Perfect!  Done & done.

I am seriously itching for warmer weather so I can get back to taking photos outside, this is seriously a tease.

Finally, this dress was purchased on a recently shopping trip with my girl friend.  It's from Zellers.  Yes, Zellers.  I paid $35 for it, and it's lined.  Pretty, 'eh?  And no, that's not my real hair.

I wear this blazer a lot but I never roll up the sleeves to reveal the you're-suppose-to-reveal pattern (stripes).  I just feel like everyone and their mother rolls up their blazer sleeves, that's 'the look' and I don't necessarily want to be 'the look', I want to make my own look.  I made an exception this time because I loved the idea of the two patterns playing with each other (the dress and the stripes).
