This past weekend, my most amazing friends took me to Montreal for a wicked Bachelorette party weekend.  My BFF planned an incredible stay with only the best of the best activities and events.  Everything was top secret until it was happening and it was perfect.  We had an action-packed two days in the busy city and I am so grateful to have such wonderful, caring friends!  Thank you ladies for making this one of the most memorable trips I've ever taken, your generosity has not gone unnoticed and I appreciate each and every one of you!

I bought this skirt a couple of months ago and it was super on sale.  I was so ecstatic about this find because I was searching for a lace skirt, and we all know how much I love tiers.  I've been saving it for the perfect day and this outfit sprang to mind as I rushed around getting ready for work.  In past years, I've been reluctant to wear black in the summertime, but this year I seem to be singing a different tune... and I quite like it.

My coworkers totally tricked me.  They threw me a bridal shower and I had no idea!  Very thoughtful and very impressive.  Here's how it went down:  My girl friend CG and I work together-ish.  She scheduled a meeting for us for a 'quick chat' but assured me everything was okay.  15 minutes before our meeting, I ran to the bathroom, thinking I would have enough time, but ran into my friend.  Now this is odd since she works on the first floor and I'm on the sixth, but I made nothing of it and she said she'd wait for me.  Sure enough, when I came back, she was waiting outside a boardroom (with a closed door) and pulled me in where over 20 people were waiting to surprise me!  Isn't that the sweetest?  They had a huge cake, a beautiful bouquet of flowers for me, CG made cherry chip cupcakes because she knows they're my fave, they also had some drinks, a 'BRIDE' sash and a super sweet card with a gift card inside!  I am blown away and they really got me good - I feel so thankful.

I used the nail polish I won in Katie's give-away over top of a fave Zoya colour I have and am very pleased with the results.  I painted some opposing nails for fun.  I normally don't wear sparkly nail polish (just don't have any) but used to love it when I was younger.  It certainly brings me back and it's a great (nostalgic) feeling.

We have been having crazy rain storms here the past couple of days, which isn't exactly normal for us. I had planned to shoot this outfit post outside, but when it started to pour, that plan changed quickly.  Good thing I snapped up these shots beforehand because I was greated by a very unpleasant surprise when I left work:  my car sitting in a flooded parking lot at work!  Not only that, but my car was the only car (out of hundreds) in the deepest water (what are the chances?!).  After wading to my car (and taking some pictures along the way), I nervously opened my door hoping water wouldn't flow in (as it was to the bottom of the doors), but to my surprise, there already was water inside my car, an inch deep!  Oh yeah, and my former wedding shoes were on the floor in the backseat in a pool of water.  Awesome.  Oh yeah, did I mentioned I got a parking ticket at work, that day?

{ I took my shoes off to walk through the huge pool to get to my car -
it was almost at my knees at the deepest part -ie. beside my car }
