Outfit deets:
* Forever 21 jacket (which is more of a burgundy colour than the reddish tone it's showing up in these photos) that I picked up the day before my trip to Dominican and it's finally warm enough to wear it now.
* American Eagle sweater cardigan which you've seen with white skinnies (kind of love this post) & a black/white combo outfit.
* Foxy jeans (see when I purchased them years back) that you've seen with a cognac leather jacket and with my fave snood. These are cool jeans because they are super long and slightly boot cut at the bottom so they always cover half my foot.
* Aldo wedges.
* Accessories: Ardène clutch, Gucci sunglasses, H&M bar necklace, The Bay turquoise necklace, F21 horn necklace & various bangles/bracelets.
Happy Tuesday!
Last night I spent hours upon hours re-filming my next Place d'Orleans vlog. I set aside the entire day Sunday to prep, film and edit and used all my hours only to start editing the footage--which took over an hour to import--and realize the lighting was terrible and I was out of focus the entire time. Ugh. So frustrating when you think you're being productive for, oh, seven hours or so, and you're not.
Anyhuways.
I rushed home yesterday after work to re-film while there was still some daylight left, spent hours working into the night editing and sent it off this morning. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, and even though I had to re-film, the final results were worth it because I was really unhappy with my first cut. I'll share the video here (as always), once it goes live.
Here's a funny/awkward story: while taking these pictures--alone--this young guy and his girlfriend pulled up, rolled down the window and asked if I was okay. I told them I was fine, and they proceeded to stay parked exactly where they were about four parking spots away from me and watch me. I'm serious. They didn't leave, so finally after a good 10 minutes, I hoped in my car and drove away. Gawd! Can't a girl take a freakin' photo (or 20) of herself without being creeped on?

Outfit deets: Okay denim vest (another pic HERE), Joe Fresh tank, old Joe Fresh top cut into a skirt (see DIY HERE) & Urban Expressions purse.
So after my big, long post about going Gluten-free, I had this. The bf really wanted this for dinner, and sometimes we need to compromise (haha); at the same time, I felt pretty crappy after the fact despite it being delicious.
Saturday trip to Ogdensburg, NY to pick up my new summer tires for my car.
Kiki getting her new wheels.
Once we got back into town, we went for a late breakfast on a patio. Welcome back, Summer!
Saturday afternoon I went shopping but not before giving my girl a bath. Couldn't resist snapping this shot.
Saw these heels at Aldo and posted them on FB. I think I need these in my life very, very soon (the black).
Saturday night we grabbed some take-out and sat by the canal to eat. So peaceful, warm and we saw some ducks too (& fed them!).
On Sunday morning I got an early start to my day as I knew it'd be a long one...
...I filmed all day long and into the evening only to discover (after hours of filming an over an hour of importing the footage) that my lighting was terrible and my focus was off the entire time. Argh! Have to re-film tonight; what a frustrating day.
A mid-editing afternoon snack.
Doesn't dinner always taste better when someone else makes it?
Happy Monday!

Expressions necklace, $30
I'm so excited about my new necklace that I picked up this weekend at The Bay. While I will be showcasing this in my upcoming vlog, I wanted to share it here anyways because it's just so freakin' awesome. I'm loving big, chunky, shorter necklaces right now and have been on the hunt for them. When I saw this, despite the slightly steep price tag, I had to have it.
Unfortunately it's not on The Bay's website right now, but you can find all the Expression jewelery HERE.
Weekend recap coming up this afternoon!
When Def Shop contacted me about doing some shopping with them, it only took a few minutes of browsing their site before saying yes (yes, yes, yes!). Their style and asthetic totally fit mine and I love the variety of brands they carry.
Not only do they offer many familiar & stylish brands for girls and guys (Maison Scotch, Supra, Killah, Lacoste, Miss Sixty, Wesc, Jack Jones, etc.), the site is easily navigateable and well laid out.
Of my favourites, they carry Vero Moda, a brand I'm already familiar with and love, hence why I jumped at the chance to get my hands on these very tops I'm rockin'. I almost went with these pink Supra hi-tops (remember when I was covetting them?) but ultimately decided I'd get more use out of the tops--that said, I am still covetting the shoes, ha!
Here are a few favourites I'd love to get next:
* A bright pink trench coat for Spring.
* Dark distressed denim, perfect for date night.
* I like this Pharrell hoodie --even if it's for the boys.
* Beautiful leather gloves in a rich colour.
* An amazing (faux) leather jacket (I wish I saw this one before, I so would have picked it!).
For the boys:
* A twisted hoodie for movie nights or casual drinks.
* The perfect belt.
* These hi-tops are so cool, imagine undone with some jeans tucked loosly into 'em.
* A cute old-school pull-over jacket that's been modernized.
* This post is sponsored by DefShop. I was given the opportunity to shop with them but all items were chosen by me. As always, thanks for reading & for supporting my sponsors!
I've been looking for the perfect floral blazer and I think F21 is going to take the cake with this one. At $35, it doesn't break the bank, and since it's such a trendy piece, I won't mind retiring it once it runs it's course.
I found them! I bought them!
After over a month of debating over 'the perfect' nude strappy sandal, I finally decided on these Zara buckle heels, almost immediately when I saw them. They are the perfect heel height--not too high, but high enough to make your legs look good--and possess a thick ankle strap (my fave!) and a skinny strap across the toes. The clincher was the price as they were a solid $40 cheaper than most styles I saw. They also come in black & red.
I'm wearing them today and love them so much! They are fine to walk in and definitely true to size (I ordered a 41, which is a US 10, as per the box) and I know I'm going to get my money's worth. Now, to find the perfect black pair (at a reasonable price).
I have never been the sort of person that has the urge to have children. I've never gotten that feeling of, 'I can't wait to have a baby!' or the like. You know some people just have it, and some don't? I don't.
My sister is currently pregnant and she's always been one of those women that wants to have children. Since she was little I can remember her saying she wanted to be a young mom and to have kids. I, however, was never sure if I wanted children...and still don't. Sort of.
As the years have passed and I've gotten older, I kind of thought that feeling would come, that I would get the urge or something, but despite being 29, there is still none of that.
That said, you know what they say, typically one doesn't regret having the baby even if they never had the urge, your life is forever changed and blessed and wonderful (in between those trying times with zero sleep and spit-up all over your not-so-clean clothes) and the couple ends up happy they went through with it. I also think it would be somewhat of a lonely life, later down the line, when you're older and all your friends have aging children and you are alone with your spouse for holidays and special times throughout the year. Yes, you can always share that with other families, but your family will be just two (assuming you spend your life with someone).
All that said, I had a conversation with my mom the other day and she and my dad had been discussing whether or not they thought I would have kids. My mom was unsure, but my dad said he did not think I would, and in turn I felt...insulted! (?) I'm not sure why, but I felt like jumping up and being all, 'Nooooo! I will have children!' So funny considering how I'm distinctly perched up on that fence.
What about you; assuming you don't have kids (or pre-children), do/did you want them?
(Photo of me & old friends' baby, circa this time in 2006).
This past month was fun but also tough because it meant getting back to work after almost two weeks off of work (visiting Toronto and vacationing in Mexico)! We also experienced a crazy snowstorm in the second and third week (what?!) when we thought we were done with all that silliness.
In April I jumped on board the denim vest trend, did two photoshoots with Place d'Orleans for a contest they are currently running and ran into some car problems (with my new ride; all is well now).
I decided to see if I could give up Gluten, rocked various combinations of stud earrings (#acoearswag) & a men's chambray-ish shirt. I made a mint maxi dress, rocked arm parties like nobody's business and started planning my sister's baby shower (she's having a boy!).
I hosted friends for dinner (which made me nervous to cook for four), was featured on a poster at the mall (results of the photoshoot) and did a 300 metre hike to the top at Luskville Falls.
I went without tights, played in my first volleyball tournament (and won gold!), attended a wine & cheese party and welcomed Spring--finally!--with a rooftop BBQ.
Other look-backs:
* January
* February
* March
As promised, here is a behind-the-scenes peek at day two of the Place d'Orleans Spring Promo Photoshoot. This day was fun as I felt more comfortable with the majority of the outfits as I liked them. If you like something, you will generally feel more comfortable in it, right? Same goes for modelling the clothes (surprise, surprise).
We shot six different complete looks from various stores, which I'll list below. I loved some of the items so much, I even went back and purchased a few (the denim vest above, the light turquoise/mint chinos below but in a baby yellow and some bangles).
Shooting the looks took just under three hours and are being used for a contest the mall is currently running to give four people the opportunity to win $500 to spend at the mall (see all the deets HERE)!

Not everything is what it seems: this dress from Laura, although beautiful, was too big for me--and the smaller size not available--so it was clamped up the back!

Denim vests are ha-uge for this Spring / Summer and I was a little weery about two months ago but now I'm kind of obsessed.
I picked up the bottom right vest last week and decided to return the one I had initially purchased (you can see it in my Hottest Spring Trends vlog HERE). Now I'm on the hunt for another one despite not even wearing mine yet!
I love the idea of pairing this over a sweet sundress with gladiator sandals or go totally Coachelle/music-festival inspired with booties. I think it'd be sweet with black pants and a skimpy tank underneath too. I love it so much I think I'm going to order the red one from F21 for a coloured take on this trend. (I also really love the one from Delia's with the off-set zipper and great wash; so feminine, which I gravitate towards).
Denim vest: will you rock it?
On Friday afternoon my bestie and I hit up Montana's for lunch and I ordered the steak salad (my fave because it comes with these little crusted-deep-fried jalepenos on top. And steak, of course).
Friday night I did some shopping and picked up the things you see above plus more (which I will share in an upcoming vlog). See me in the denim jacket HERE.
On Saturday, we played in a pairs volleyball tournament. We played six games and went to the finals. We won our sixth game and placed first and got gold medals (such a surprise!).
...afterwards, we went out for burgers to celebrate.
"Lettuce, tomatoes, mustard & extra pickles please."
On Saturday night I went to a wine & cheese party... sort of... I say sort of because it turned into more of a wine & UFC party.
Outfit deets: Marshalls top (can't remember the brand but it's new), Roxy denim (old) & H&M necklace (old).
A friend made these amazing canapés with fois gras, goat cheese, cherry tomatos and a few other decadent ingredients.
On Sunday morning my bestie and I had plans to meet for breakfast. She suggested we invite my parent's along since we were in the neighbourhood. I didn't eat that toast.
Afterwards we hit up Value Village and did some scouring. I'm going to vlog what I bought but here's what I wore (yes, those pants again, but I misplanned, ran late, wasn't home and blah blah blah. I never re-wear items without washing them--kind of anal like that--so not sure what got into me here).
Outfit deets: Men's G21 (Walmart) tee with rolled sleeves, Roxy denim, hi-top wedges, Urban Planet belt, H&M necklace & Pier 1 ring.
Sunday night was a rooftop and a BBQ and some new friends which was really fun. Summer and warm weather is finally here and we all took full advantage of.
My guy's best girl pal lives in a beautiful condo downtown and her balcony is awesome.
Outfit deets: Old Navy tee (old), Max Studio skirt (I wore almost this exact outfit while picking up myu impounded car last summer. Read that story HERE.) & Alfred Sung shades.
Grilled zuchinni, roasted potates & BBQ chicken. #whodoesntlovesummer
