I asked hubs to snap my photo with this outfit (as I've been totally slacking on outfit photos as of late, did you notice?  I know you did.  And it's not because I don't want to capture my outfits, it's just been bad timing lately) and handed him the camera.  The rest of the conversation went like this:

Hubs:  Uh oh... change battery pack.
Me:  What?!
Hubs:  Change battery pack.
Me:  No.  You're kidding.  It doesn't say that.
Hubs:  (showing me the camera screen) Yes, it says 'change battery pack'.
Me:  Well, we gotta capture this apple-green-ness that's happening here.  Let's use your iPhone.

And so we did.  Hence the semi-blurry photos, but I'll take 'em (hopefully you will too?  Ha, you have no choice I suppose).

On a clothing note, I was told by about 5 people how 'springy' I looked when wearing this jacket and while there is still tons of snow on the ground and spring seems years away, I can dream... and dress for it.

So I'm back home from my weekend away.  The party was fun and it was great to see family.  Lots of driving though (about 5 hours each way) but fortunately my Dad did all the driving and we hitched a ride.  Feels like I barely got a weekend because there was so much traveling!  I guess this coming weekend can't come soon enough (look at me, wishing the days away - oops).

I bought this top from H&M three years ago and am still loving it.  I am always surprised when I hold on to something for years and still actually rock it.  It seems like when you're growing up, you don't tend to hold onto things very long, mainly because you are growing, but also because peer pressure often forces us to believe you can't hold onto things.  However, I also think, as we get older (and wiser), our tastes develop and I don't know about you, but I find myself purchasing things and knowing it's going to be around for some time.

We went and did something special on Thursday night with our amazing friend LT.  We went to a small town outside the city and she had all these great places scouted out.  We spent more than an hour there, which really flew by.  Can't wait to see the end product!  After wards, the fiancé and I walked around the little village and grabbed some good ol' fashioned ice cream ... in waffle cones, non the less, before heading back to the city.

The weather here is unreal right now.  With temperatures soaring into the 40's (Celcius) with the humidex, it's hard to be outside and not break a sweat ... standing still!  I met up with the the girls on the weekend for breakfast and chatter.  We dined al fresco (love it) and had a great time.  I certainly got some sun, and although I was adament on applying the sunscreen (I carry it in my bag), the top of my head and my upper legs got a little toasted.  New goal: start keeping a hat with me.

Psssst - I got these shorts on my shopping trip back in May.

We grabbed some Booster Juice on the weekend, which was the perfect cure for the super hot weather.  We strolled around an outdoor mall until we couldn't handle the heat and headed back to the sanction of central air!

I bought this dress on Wednesday evening after work, and was so pumped to find it.  I got it from the thrift store for $8 bucks, but it's originally from GAP.  I remember seeing this dress two summers ago, but passed it by - I sure am glad I did since I found this gem at a deeply discounted price.  I washed it immediately so I could rock it right away.  Score.

I think I speak for many women at the moment when I say I'm still really loving the galdiator shoe trend.  Gladiator flats are so easy to slip into, whether it's a day of perusing the mall or lunch with the girls, they just work.  This year the focus is really on cuffs, and ankle embellishment.  I came across this beautiful Kelsi Dagger gladiators, but for those looking for a less expensive version, head over to Aldo for something super similar.

I hinted about this top, and for those of you who follow me on twitter, know that I made it myself.  As I mentioned before, I've started sewing (and experimenting).  I found this fabulous fabric (on sale of course, I am an amature) and thought it would make a great top with embellishment.  Well, I was right and am loving it.  Not only that, but I got several compliments and am so happy with how it turned out it's making it hard to tear myself away from the sewing machine!

On Thursday evening, I had my lovely bridesmaids come over to try on their bridesmaid dresses... that we ordered online.  Yes ladies, online.  Since our wedding is going to be somewhat non-traditional + my avid love for online shopping + the fact that I found the 'perfect' dress for the girls online = I said, 'What the hell!' and clicked the purchase button.

Well, the dresses have arrived and are even more perfect than anticipated.  All the girls seem to really like it (some love it), and the colour is so vivid and gorgeous.  Only two of six ladies need to get it tailored and yet still feel the size they ordered was correct (with some minor tweaking).  I'm so excited to say the least and can't wait to see how they all look on the big day!

Mexx dress, Garage denim jacket, Le Chateau pashmina, Bamboo gladiators,
Aldo bag (also seen here), H&M bangle & Tiffany bracelet ... (oops, left my work pass on!)

One and a half weeks into my only-wearing-flats experiment, and I'm getting tired of this.  I feel so casual in flats and while I welcome the breather from heels, two weeks is a long time.  Regardless, I thought I'd give you a peek at this outfit today.  This Mexx dress is a loose crisp (lined) cotton dress, with pockets - which I love!  It's great for those I'm-feeling-bloated days, and also an easy dress to throw on.  I've rocked it with heels and flats, in the summer and in the winter (with and without tights) - it's quite versatile (and forgiving).
