Costa Blanca blouse, uknown skirt (thrifted),
Anne Michelle shoes (last seen here), Suzy cuff & F21 necklace

When I saw this skirt during my thrifting excursion the night before Canada Day, I knew I had to have it.  I zipped into the change room and zipped it up and it fit perfectly.  I was ecstatic.  Not only that, I just happened to go the day everything in the store was 50% off!  I walked away with several items, including this fab, vintage lace skirt for $5.

I am getting real close to purchasing some wedding shoes.  I know, I know, some of you are thinking, 'I thought you already had your wedding shoes?!'  And, well, technically yes, I did buy some beautiful shoes that were almost exactly what I was looking for.  Now, the second thoughts are drowning out my desire to wear these for the wedding and alas I'm on the hunt.  I have found something though.  Something that doesn't match the former criteria... at all.  I'm very excited, but, it's not a done deal just yet... so you'll have to stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed for me that it works out.

Oh, and PS, rest assured they don't look like the
shoes above (but damn would I be comfy).

While working on a new sewing project (a top), I was getting frustrated and ready to give up.  I wasn't ready to retire the sewing machine for the evening, and was trying to think of what I could make and not screw up (ie. end the night on a satisfied note) when Peanut ran by.  As I mentioned, we are dog sitting my family dog for a couple of days.  I thought she defintely needed a new collar, and I got busy.  Here's what went down.

Start with some slippery fabric (nylon)
(this was the lining from a thrifted skirt - which I specifically bought to take apart)

Cut a strip, about 4 inches thick

Serge the edges so it doesn't fray (or do a zig-zag stitch as I did)

Fold the fabric and start to sew the ruffle...

Ta-dah

Grab some pretty ribbon...

...I sewed two together for a pretty look

Attach the ribbon to the ruffle

Voila!

A.Co Designs circle vest, Sirens top, F21 shorts, Bamboo gladiators, Bay bangle & Hot Diamonds ring

The weather here is unreal right now.  With temperatures soaring into the 40's (Celcius) with the humidex, it's hard to be outside and not break a sweat ... standing still!  I met up with the the girls on the weekend for breakfast and chatter.  We dined al fresco (love it) and had a great time.  I certainly got some sun, and although I was adament on applying the sunscreen (I carry it in my bag), the top of my head and my upper legs got a little toasted.  New goal: start keeping a hat with me.

Psssst - I got these shorts on my shopping trip back in May.

{ I made this and sell them for $25 }

Gap dress, Old Navy (kids) belt, Classified gladiators, H&M wooden bangle, Le Chateau metal bangle,
Suzy ring, random hoops, vintage silk scarf & Loeffer Randall bag

We grabbed some Booster Juice on the weekend, which was the perfect cure for the super hot weather.  We strolled around an outdoor mall until we couldn't handle the heat and headed back to the sanction of central air!

I bought this dress on Wednesday evening after work, and was so pumped to find it.  I got it from the thrift store for $8 bucks, but it's originally from GAP.  I remember seeing this dress two summers ago, but passed it by - I sure am glad I did since I found this gem at a deeply discounted price.  I washed it immediately so I could rock it right away.  Score.

{ waiting for my 'Funky Monkey' }
