On Wednesday afternoon, I left work early and went to Montreal to see The Weeknd in concert. The show was awesome, the venue was really cool too and just going in itself was such a treat. We stayed at the Mariott Resident Inn, which was within a short walking distance for the shopping we did on Thursday (more on that later). For now, I'd love to share some photos with you...
Heading to MTL.
Outfit deets: Zara dress & "Bekket" hi-tops.
Wednesday night: turkey dinner (I had just been craving it one day earlier!) | Shopping outfit for Thursday.

Lunch at Romado's (massive chicken plate for $9).
Home-bound.

For my second video as the Place d'Orleans Fashion Vlogger, I pull together some wardrobe classics, or things that you can look for while out shopping that can easily mix and match with things you likely already own.
Stay tuned for more videos (specifically on the Place d'Orleans FB page), the next one will be out mid-November!

So exciting: I'm currently en route to Montreal to see The Weeknd in concert tonight! I cannot wait. I have been a big fan for a few years now and unfortunately missed the chance to see him in my hometown when he was here in the summer, so this is a dream.
I'm going with someone who is pretty awesome too, and a big fan, plus we're staying over night and going to go shopping tomorrow! Eep! So fun to get away for a night and just be care free.
If you don't know who The Weeknd is, he's a 22-year old (so young!) R&B singer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada who has been on a scene for a few years but is just starting to blow up (and if you're a Drake fan, guaranteed you'll like this one). I could go on and describe his smooth voice or pensive vocals but instead I leave you with a few favourite tracks:
The Weeknd - Trust Issues (Drake cover)
For Halloween this year I went as Baroness from G.I. Joe, The Rise of the Cobra. Although I've never seen the movie (ha!) I think our costumes came out pretty well (and let's be honest, I'll take any chance I can to wear my brunette wig).
I went to a charity Halloween Party on Saturday and it was a blast. It's been many years since I've got out for Halloween, despite wanting to for the last few years (but not being able to). I think it's safe to say I made up for lost time while supporting a great cause.
Happy Halloween!
* Previous Halloween costumes (including a Sailor, Leopard & more).
Outfit deets:
* Thrifted denim jacket (old) that you've seen with cropped light denim (wow that's an old outfit post!).
* Part Two top (c/o Renee Levesque) that I picked up during my 'modelling' gig almost two months ago (I was eyeballing it the entire time I was there working).
* Garage tank underneath.
* Sirens leggings.
* Aldo wedge (canvas) hidden wedge boots that you've seen with red pants & with a LBD and moto-style jacket.
* H&M zipper snood that I picked up during my trip to MTL this time last year, which you've seen with skinny pants (a favourite outfit post, actually).
* Accessories: MK watch & Aldo bangles.
What's up friends!?
I took last night to really focus on me and kick it solo. Things have been busy lately (as I've mentioned) and while I love it, sometimes you need to get shiz done, or simply do things you've put on the back-burner or things no one else has interest in (ha).
I went to the gym, put in a good run on the treadmill and then made my way home after picking up a baby shower gift. I made myself a salad, worked on my blog, and just did me.
This week is going to be nutty busy so I think taking a night to re-group and re-energize will only put me in a better place to fully absorb and take on the week (which I'm very much looking forward to). Happy Tuesday!
Hanging out with one huge toothbrush (which was actually for my friend's costume) on Friday afternoon.
Beautiful fall trees in the neighbourhood.
Friday night sushi date.
Saturday morning surprise: my favourite tea.
Late breakfast pit stop before running some errands on Saturday afternoon.
My Halloween costume this year: Baroness.
Sunday morning breakfast: my first fritatta, cinnamon buns & grapes.
My new hat from Le Chateau (c/o Place d'Orleans)
Blogging is a job. And a half. That I love. But man, it's time consuming.
Every morning for the past two weeks or more, I've told myself, 'Tonight I will blog and put something good together'. And by good I mean an outfit post and some good ol' fashioned writing.
You see, I have a few outfits lined up in my queue, but the editing and uploading and writing and posting is keeping me from sharing them with you. I've been so busy in the evenings (by choice) that, dare I say it, blogging has fallen slightly to the wayside (eep!).
I hate admitting that; I've worked so hard on my blog, dedicated hours upon hours, and really put my heart into it. I'm not stopping anytime soon, but I have to be honest when I say my content lately isn't exactly my favourite (except weekend recaps, I love those).
So, in an effort to provide you something today (ha!) I give you a few good ol' selfie shots of outfits I wore this week and last and will try to be better next week. xo
Left to right, outfit deets:
1. Dynamite lace top (new!), Smart Set cami, H&M pants (old), Anne Michelle heels, Suzy necklace & Coach wallet.
On the weekend I spent my Sunday reorganizing my apartment. I moved things from room to room, switched my bedroom around and unpacked items that were 'waiting' to be used. One of these items was a beautiful frame I was given after my sister's wedding (to put a picture of us in, likely in my office) that was still sitting in it's box (the larger frame at the back). Since we haven't gotten the digital prints from her wedding yet, I don't have a picture to use, but in the mean time, I decided to spruce up my night-table with some scarf framed art.
This project will take you no time at all, and if you have a piece of fabric you love, or a scarf and some frames that aren't being used, you're in business.
Simply fold up your silk scarf/fabric to fit the frame, seal shut and enjoy. Easy as pie!
On Friday night I had two parties to attend: a surprise 40th birthday party and a wine mixer. I wore this for the restaurant birthday, part one of the evening.
Outfit deets: La Class Couture jacket, Dynamite top (new!), H&M jeans & Rampage boots.
Friday night dinner: French onion soup + Fish tacos.
The Catalina Wine Mixer started out like this...
...and soon got down to business.
Dancing followed soon thereafter.
Saturday was calm: slept in, did some shopping at Walmart and a late night Pho dinner.
On Sunday I took a good 15 minutes to relax with my tea before getting down to business...
I spent seven hours reorganizing my apartment, cleaning and putting stuff away. I live in a small space and it's hard to maneuver around and switch things up, but I did it (including reorganizing my shoes!).
Sunday night dinner: grilled chicken salad with beats, avocado, cucumber, feta & walnuts.
Sunday nights have officially become Dexter nights and I indulged with some Ginger Snaps.
Hanging out with my favourite kitty in my new hat.
Outfit deets: Joshua Perets hoodie, tank, pants & Walmart hat.
Here is my first vlog as the Place d'Orleans Fashion Vlogger and I couldn't be more excited. We filmed a b-roll (the little introduction part) a few weeks ago and the marketing company did a great job putting it together.
I will be filming two videos per month and will be sure to post them here once they go live.
For this video, I focused on four categories for fall trends:
* Pattern (polka dots, leopard)
* Shape (peplum, envelope)
* Colour (hunter green, burgundy, rose gold)
* Texture (waxed, lace)
Stay tuned for more videos (specifically on the Place d'Orleans FB page), the next one will be out at the end of the month!
Last night I got together with two girlfriends and there was wine, cheese, and quiche. And lots of chatter. And laughs. And good times.
While sitting around, I noticed a neat little box of notecards on Rachella's table and she said they were conversation cards. So we played. The questions were things like, 'If you could spend one year somewhere, which country would you choose?' (Brazil for me), and, 'What would you like to receive as a birthday gift?' (designer shoes), and, 'If you could do one indulgent thing without suffering the consequences, what would it be?' (tanning; haha), and more. We took turns reading cards and answering each one. So simple and yet so fun and entertaining!
Fall is officially here, enjoy it while it lasts (preferably with wine and cheese)!
