My family and friends know that my thing is shoes.
I. Love. Shoes.
It's pretty obvious.
I'm not sure where it came from, or how I grew to love them so much (why not bags? Or designer denim? Or something cheaper, like... nail polish?), but I do. People are often surprised by my shoe collection, but I have a small secret: I don't pay a ton for my shoes.
Yes, sometimes I spend more on various pairs and I have picked up a designer pair along the way. That said, for the most part, my shoes are inexpensive. I prefer to have more of a variety and when it comes down to it, and I never 'wear out' my shoes. Additionally, Canadian winters can be harsh on boots so it's almost ridiculous to invest a chunk of change in those when you know come Spring they will be toast.
I mainly shop for shoes online, or at least have in the past, and love the great savings you can find (and I'm in Canada, imagine how much better it is for you US readers). It's always exciting when the mailman comes with a box!
I wanted to share a few of my favourite online stores to purchase shoes from:
* AMI Clubwear (use Ebates and get 5% cashback)
* Go Jane
* Alloy (2.5% cashback)
And a few 'pricier' (but still kind of budget friendly) places I love:
* Victoria's Secret (2.5% cashback & the Uggs are priced really well, if you like that sort of thing)

My Friday night contribution: Apple crisp!

(Have you tried these? They are the best in the game. Love love love.)
Saturday morning breakfast at Broadways.
I test drove the new Scion fr-s but ultimately did not like it (sure is pretty to look at though). Still looking.
Later on, I did some shopping and picked up these two real-stone rings from Dollarama.
Burgers & fries at Five Guys to finish off a great Saturday.
On Sunday I made breakfast and it looked like this.
Testing out my new Solo's...
...and on Sunday evening I actually went to the gym
(I blame the new headphones, I really wanted to use 'em).
Sunday night was Dexter and finished off with a pizza craving that was met at midnight.
(Look at all that delicious food. Sheesh! Talk about an indulgent weekend.)
What are you up to this weekend?
Tonight is a home-cooked meal and some QT time on the couch (I'm making a fall dessert that I will share next week). Maybe some car shopping tomorrow, and spending time with some of my favourite people.
Needless to say it's going to be great, relaxing and just what I need after this crazy and intense week at work. Happy weekend!
Bullying.
If you haven't heard about Amanda Todd's story, let me recap it for you.
A 15 year old Canadian girl from BC who was tormented for years by classmates, 'friends' and people she didn't even know. All through social media. She took her life two days ago, only three weeks after posting a video on YouTube that shows her telling her story through flash cards (like the screen shot above). The video is heart wrenching, chilling and so sad. It was a plea for help, that nobody answered. And now it is too late.
This is not the first case of bullying that has led to suicide, and while there is a lot of retro-active responses, where is the pro-activivity?
The other day I was actually having a conversation with someone who has three teenage daughters, and I commented on how different it must be now, raising teens in this day in age with social media. How much harder it must be then when I was growing up (and the Internet came into play when I was in grade nine), and they completely agreed.
Bullying through social media happens all the time, and the consequences of someone's bullying is often not seen by the bully. For example, it is very easy to write, text, post and say mean things about someone or to someone while sitting behind your computer screen (often anonymously). Add that to the 'security' of a large friends list and you have a perfect recipe to, 'bully and forget' (we'll call it). That means, the bully often doesn't see the repercusions of their actions, they don't know or feel or mainly see how badly it is affecting the victim, and sometimes, as in this case, until it is too late.
I cannot speak for how it is for teens today, growing up in a world so engrossed with social media, but as an adult, I know it's not always easy dealing with the small-time bullies I may get on my blog. Think back to when you were a teen; high school is the be-all and end-all, or so it seems at the time. When your world crashes around you, when other students are picking on you, when you have no friends or anywhere to turn, your world literally is falling apart. At that age, it's hard to realize life is bigger, better, and greater outside of high school and often times at that age, you don't have the tools to deal with such emotional crisis.
As I mentioned, I have dealt with some mean comments on my blog, bullying, or 'trolls', if you will (none of which compare to the severity of what Amanda Todd experienced). These comments are always anonymous, and of course they are. How easy is it to sit back and judge someone without showing your face and write hurtful things? Very, very easy. Is it right? Of course not. Does it happen? All the time.
We need to make this stop. Beautiful people are taking their lives because of the cruelty of others. Why do people feel the need to torment others? Is it jealousy? Is it insecurity? Perhaps they are simply mean. I believe that there is good in people. Don't let this go any further. Raise awareness. Speak out. Share your story. And as someone wise once said, 'Be the change you wish to see in others.'
Outfit deets:
* Jessica Simpson blazer (from my Boxing Day haul) which you've seen with tuxedo style cropped pants.
* Covet tank (from my Marshalls haul) (new!).
* H&M waxed pants (picked up during my trip to Vegas) (new!).
* Payless heels that have been worn with a striped dress and once with pants and a pretty chiffon feather top.
* Accessories: consigned necklace (new!), Gucci shades & Aldo rose gold bangle (new!).
This outfit is quite different from last year's Thanksgiving outfit, but the weather was much different and I wanted to break out my new waxed pants. Since my sister is on her honeymoon, my parents and I were invited to have dinner with my grandparents at their senior's residence. It was a full turkey dinner (so I got my fix) with pumpkin pie to top it off. Only problem? No leftovers! Wah wah.
I have had my eye on the Isabel Marant 'Bekket' or 'Willow' (older version) since January.
Yes. January. I have been coveting hi-top wedge sneakers since the beginning of this year.
I wish I could say these are the real deal, but I couldn't justify spending over $700 on... sneakers.
So, I did the next best thing: eBay.
I purchased these through the seller besttopstock and am quite pleased. The shipping was free and the price was comparable to other listings. They arrived within three weeks, which was faster than expected (from China to Canada). I can personally tell these are not the designer goods, but they are a cool knock-off and quite comfortable. They fit fairly true to size, but run a little narrow.
I wore these out last night for the first time (they just arrived yesterday!) with the skinny jeans you see above and an off-the-shoulder white sweater. I can't wait to rock these with a leather mini skirt and my distressed denim shorts (c'mon Indian summer!).

* Psst, these are the shoes Beyonce wore in her, 'Love on Top' video.
Update:
* Rockin' them with a dress for The Weeknd concert in MTL.
Running errands which resulted in a haul video.
Outfit deets: Dynamite top (new!) & tube underneath, Seduction shorts & BCBC heels.
Amazing dinner on Friday night.
Saturday morning breakfast.
Relaxing before some heavy shopping for my vlogger gig on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday burger stop.
Saturday night out with my girls.
Sunday morning brunch outfit.
My sister is on her honeymoon now but her photographer shared her wedding photos before they left. They. Are. Awesome. This is just one of the 1500.
Monday morning breakfast.
Monday afternoon tea with a friend.
Winner, winner! (sunday evening) chicken dinner.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and when I logged into ShopStyle the other day they had a feature page with tons of pink items which in turn sparked my idea to create a set of pink items I'm currently coveting.
* Chloe Paraty Salmon Python purse (dream bag alert!).
I'm over at in the fashion lane today and talking about being single, living life and all the positives that can come along with it (should you choose).
Come on over and get in on the discussion!
Outfit deets:
* Zara sweater (with La Senza bandeau underneath) which you've seen in a cream colour with a black skirt and also with my chartreuse lace ruffle shorts.
* H&M pants, worn in the same spot two years ago with white and wedges again (and one of my favourite outfit posts).
* Aldo wedges (love these) which you've seen with a hunter green chiffon top & skirt recently and with denim and an unbuttoned button-down.
* Accessories: H&M belt, MK watch, A.Co Designs bracelet, Suzy necklace, Gucci shades & random bangle.
Do you ever feel like you're running on half a tank? That's pretty much how I've been feeling for the last three weeks or so. It's been busy, to say the least with my trip to Vegas and then my sister's wedding. Additionally work has been crazy and I stayed two hours late Monday through Wednesday last week. Throw a personal life into the mix and half a tank feels more like a quarter tank.
Tonight is exciting though; I'm heading to the mall where I am the new Fashion Vlogger and we are going to be filming a b-roll for my upcoming videos. This will be the little 'intro' that goes at the beginning of each haul video I produce, which is pretty cool. My first haul video will be up soon and it will include all the items I purchased during the shop-off challenge that I competed in and that ultimately won me the contest! I can't wait to share with you all.
In other news, I've joined a volleyball league with some friends that plays on Thursdays and I'll be starting tomorrow. I'm kind of nervous. It's been three years since I played organized volleyball so not sure how my skills are going to hold up!
Hope you're all having a great week!
