I'm cutting right to the chase:  I won the Vlogger Search contest yesterday!

In an exhilarating, competitive and super fun day, I came out on top for the Fashion Vlogger search that was happening at my local mall.  I couldn't be more excited!

So after all of you amazing people voted for me on Facebook, and placing first (thank you!), I was called back yesterday to compete in the finals against nine other Fashion Vloggers.  Upon arriving at the mall, we collected our name badges and signed in.

We were called to the stage at 11am and took turns introducing ourselves in front of the judges and audience (I was totally nervous).  From there we were given our challenge:

They gave us $200 gift cards to shop and find the following fall fashion trends:
* Shape
* Texture
* Colour
* Pattern

Then we were off.  We had an hour and a half to complete our shop-off before returning to the stage.

My strategy was simple: find an item for each category, and then go back and 'beef up' my haul with additional pieces and remaining money.

I picked up key pieces: peplum & envelope (shape), waxed jeans (texture), polka dots & leopard print (pattern) and hunter green, rose gold & burgundy pieces (colour).

Once we all returned, we took the stage to take turns pitching our findings to the judges and growing audience.  The order of presenters was randomly draw and guess who was picked to go first?  Me.  Cue the butterflies!

We had five minutes to talk about what we purchased, as if filming a vlog, with a microphone and a small chair to put our items on (should we choose).  I gave it my best and although I forgot to say many things (like how I only had 33 cents remaining on my gift card; talk about stretching your money!), I must have done okay as I was chosen to be the next Fashion Vlogger for the mall.  So exciting!

So here's the deal:  for the next six months I will be given $300 per month to shop and vlog twice per month.  These vlogs will be posted on the Place d'Orleans Facebook Page and I'm hoping I can post them here for you all as well (if not, I will certainly link up).

Thank you again to all of you who voted, sent kind messages, congratulated me and more!  You're awesome & I couldn't have done it without you!

Now, onto some photos!

The judges deliberated and then each spoke about the winner, without revealing her (me!)...

...and then they announced that I was the winner!
I will admit I did the 'dance of joy' as per my Grammy, on stage:

Here is a list of the girls who participated that have blogs:

(And a few more fun photos on Instagram, if you'd like).

Since Fall is (almost) upon us, here is a look back at some of my favourite outfit posts last fall...

This is not so much a tutorial as it is a suggestion: dotted nails!

I have been loving this style, so much so that I did two manicures back-to-back with this.  While I didn't take any photos of the steps, it's very simple:

1.  Paint nails your colour of choice.
2.  Let a brush-full of white nail polish drip onto a piece of tin foil.
3.  Take a toothpick and dip in the white nail polish.
4.  Dot six small dots up your nail (you might have to re-dip your toothpick half way through).
5.  Seal with a clear coat.

Outfit deets:
* Jacob sweater (thrifted).
* Smart Set skirt (last year).
* Qupid sandals that I worn on my birthday in Florida this year, last year in Florida (with a similar skirt) and with a pretty floral dress I belted once.
* Accessories:  J.Crew bubble necklace (got a couple more).

Thank you to all who voted yesterday.  Today is the last day to vote so please, please take eight seconds and vote for me to become my mall's fashion vlogger for the next six months.  Every little vote counts, so thank you!

So, a 'brief' Xtreme Waterparks update:

We got to Calypso around 8am (with our Starbucks & SPF) and met with our contact point, Rachel.  From there we went into the park, filled out our waivers and headed to the first slide in our swimsuits.  The park was still closed at this point so we had the entire place to ourselves with people catering to the camera crew and us (so sweet).

We started on a group ride where the four of us sat in a large tube in a circle and went down a super steep slide and into kind of a half-pipe wall and down (a boomerang-like style).  It was a little scary but really exciting.  We did it five more times including having a camera man come down with us twice.

From there we moved on to the scariest slide in the park: AquaLoops.  This was the slide I was the most scared for and I was literally shaking.  I didn't think I was going to be able to do this floor-falling-out-from-under-you-and-dropping-50-feet... but after lots of encouraging words from my friends and the film crew, I actually did it.  Twice!  Talk about terrifying, exhilarating and something to be proud of!  We did this slide twice; the first time was normal and the second time we each took our turns holding small Go-Pro hand-held cameras to capture our faces during the ride down.  Check out the demo video of this slide.  Cray.

We took a short lunch break and refueled.  From there, it was onto a fast-four-person-tube slide with a steep 90 foot drop.  Pretty freaky the first time, especially when our friend in front flew up about four feet in the air (yes, the camera caught it!).  We did this ride five or six times and it was the tallest tower of the park.  We climbed a lot of stairs.

Afterwards we climbed the same high tower to ride a two-person tube slide that had an even steeper drop; while sitting in the front I seriously thought I was going to somersault forward at times.  Freaky!  We did this one six or seven times until we got every angle on camera possible.

In between doing slides the camera crew would interview us individually, ask for high enthusiasm but to also be real.  They would film us running up the stairs to the slides from behind, then get us to stop and film us from up the stairs while we came towards them. They filmed us getting on rides, excitedly talking before getting on, getting off the rides, high-fiving and expressing how we felt after the slides.  It was so much fun!

By the end of the day, a whopping nine hours had been spent climbing over 150 flights of stairs (not kidding), riding some of the scariest slides, by-passing all the people in line (and pissing some of them off until we'd say, 'We're filming a TV show!'), and having the times of our lives.  We have been told that our episode likely won't air for a year or two but until then, you can check out the Travel Channel on YouTube to see other previews of Xtreme Waterparks.

Shameless self-promotion alert!

On Saturday morning my bff texted me saying there was a contest going on at our local mall that was (in her words), 'Made for me,' and that I must enter.  Basically, you go to the mall, shop (with your own money), and then vlog about it (see my video here).

The top 10 (via votes) will be called back this coming Sunday and given $200 for a, 'Shopping challenge'.  From there, the judges will pick the winner.

The prize?  $300 per month for the next six months to shop and be the mall's Fashion Vlogger!

You guys, I entered and want to win this so bad.  If you have a Facebook account, it will literally take you eight seconds to vote for me.  If you don't have a FB, you could always join, as I did just two days ago in order to vote for myself.  Ha!

There are only two days to vote:  today and tomorrow.

You can vote once a day and I need all the votes I can get!

Please please pretty please would you take eight seconds and cast your vote for me?  (Thank you!)

UPDATE:  I came in first place in the top 10 thanks to your votes!! Thank you all so much for voting!

The next step is this Sunday, where I have been invited back to the mall to compete in a Fashion Shoping Challenge against the other vloggers.  Afterwards, we pitch our end result to the judges and they will decide who the next mall Fashion Vlogger is.  Wish me luck!

 After our baseball tournament, my bff and I were so sore we decided to skip our lunch time workout in favour of lunch out at Montana's (I got the trio-combo: half turkey club, small caesar & side chili).

 Friday night dinner: toasted tomato & avocado sandwich on Hungarian bread.

 Friday night out for a birthday.
Outfit deets:  Zara sweater, F21 shorts, Aldo wedges & vintage (thrifted) clutch.

 Saturday morning breakfast: home-made egg (Mc)muffin & milk.

 On Saturday we had 30mm of rain.
The top picture is pre-storm, the bottom, during (taken around 11am).

 Later that afternoon, I headed out to the mall with my bff where they are having a Vlogger contest.  Basically, you shop, vlog and if you are picked as the winner, you get $300/month to shop and vlog for the mall for six months.

Would you vote for me?

 My bff gave me her two GlossyBox lip sticks

 Saturday night I had my two favourite girls over for a girls night where we had some delicious beverages and food (nacho dip!).

 Saturday night comfies.

 Later that day, as it cooled off, I slipped on my favourite OTK boots
and went to get some groceries for dinner.

Sunday night dinner: fajitas!

Every year there is an annual charitable baseball tournament at my work.  We pay a team fee (works out to about $20 each) and play for the afternoon.  Depending on how many games you win, you either continue playing or are out.

This is the fourth year our team has played together and after always coming in second every year, we were determined to win it this year.  And we did just that!  After four exciting, athletically challenging and sweaty games, we prevailed and won in the finals!  So exciting and our team name (The Masterbatters, clever, right?) will now be on the trophy, finally!

 Yes, we are giving, 'The Shocker' as it is our team hand logo.  Haha.
