Turns out I ate a lot this weekend... since my photos don't really give a full weekend recap, I will share that on Friday I went out with some special friends, Saturday I lazed around and then ran errands before having a take-out+movie night in, and Sunday was productive with a big breakfast, errands and a family dinner.  You?

1.  (Casual) Friday's outfit for work.
2.  Friday night dinner: grilled veggies (onion & zuchinni) and chicken on a soft bun with home made sweet potato fries (not shown).
3.  Saturday morning breakfast: banana Nutella crepes (again).
4.  I cut up my first pineapple, ever which also was my 'green' item for my #febphotoaday.
5. & 6.  Sushi lunch with coworkers on Friday.
7.  Saturday night Indian take-out.
8.  Spicy wings at Friday's get together (+ Dance Central for xBox Kinect, not shown).
9. & 10.  Sunday morning breakfast: chicken bacon (a first, and not bad), over-easy eggs, rosemary sweet potato home fries & fruit.
11.  My Grammy gave me three of her china tea cups (I got to choose my favourite three, aren't these beautiful?  And so sentimental, the best part).
12.  My favourite pup.

Peanut, our family dog came to visit on the weekend.  She's such a cutie, but also very mischievous too.   It was nice to have her visit for a long weekend of walks, cuddles and naps, but I was also thankful to give her back Sunday evening.

* Yes I let her sleep in bed with  me (so spoiled, right?) but she doesn't shed and she smells good, so, those are my excuses.

I'm writing this post from the guest bedroom on Sunday night.  Why Sunday night?  Because I always prepare the next day's post on the eve before.  Why the guest bedroom?  Meh.  Our desktop computer is completely f'ed and while it has been for a while, it's gotten worse hence my working from my laptop and well that can go just about anywhere.

Back to Sunday night: we went to husband's parents' house for dinner and as per usual, I stuffed myself.  It's inevitable.  Every time we go there, I stuff myself.  Did I mention my MIL is a chef?  Not by trade, by choice, and everything she makes is so delicious I can't help myself from going back for seconds (and thirds).  Tonight she made a maple-glazed salmon and chicken parm along with squash, carrots, cauliflower, baked sweet potato and dill-infused basmati rice.  I know, I was drooling too.  The best part: she packed me a lunch for Monday and I get to enjoy the tastiness all. over.again.

'Hey dog, you're in my shot'
This little munchkin has been staying with us for a week and while she's a little mischief maker (examples: tipping over garbage pails, lots of barking when she wants to get up on and off the bed, constantly looking for treats to sneak, etc.) she's such a cutie and I love her so much.  Peanut will however be going back to her home (aka my parent's house) this weekend and while it's always sad to see her go, it'll be nice to get my side of the bed back.

* Husband recently started calling her, 'Grams' because
of her old age (she's 11) and her difficulty of jumping up on the bed.
Other nicknames include: Doctor Pretty Paws, Peaner & Peanut-Moose

Gap dress (thrifted), H&M tank (last seen here), Urban Behaviour belt, Aldo pumps (last seen here),
Le Chateau bangle & Suzy rings

...And you thought I was going to talk about diamonds.  Had a little outting with Peanut the other day.  She's such a curious thing, you can not take her off the leash - unless you never want to see her again!  She would take off immediately, especially if she hears kids (she loves kids).

We've had a little visitor for the past couple weeks - Peanut, our family dog!  She lives with my parents, but was around when I was still at home.  She's going to be 11 years old this November and is such a treat.  She's little, furry,  and fun to play with.  While she is quite stubborn (apparently a trait of shih-tzu's), she's a real cutie and it's nice to come home to her.  Of course while capturing this outfit, she wanted in on the action and I made the most of it.

* Special thanks to Katie and Cati for the blog awards!

While working on a new sewing project (a top), I was getting frustrated and ready to give up.  I wasn't ready to retire the sewing machine for the evening, and was trying to think of what I could make and not screw up (ie. end the night on a satisfied note) when Peanut ran by.  As I mentioned, we are dog sitting my family dog for a couple of days.  I thought she defintely needed a new collar, and I got busy.  Here's what went down.

Start with some slippery fabric (nylon)
(this was the lining from a thrifted skirt - which I specifically bought to take apart)

Cut a strip, about 4 inches thick

Serge the edges so it doesn't fray (or do a zig-zag stitch as I did)

Fold the fabric and start to sew the ruffle...

Ta-dah

Grab some pretty ribbon...

...I sewed two together for a pretty look

Attach the ribbon to the ruffle

Voila!
