Giving Back Through My Closet

You ladies know, I'm a huge clothing and shoes lover, but I often get asked what I do with the stuff I'm not wearing anymore.  I've talked about consigning before, but something else I always do is donate my clothing to charitable organizations.  It's a small way to give back to the community, in hopes that it finds its way to help out other women.

My thoughts are this: if it's something you once loved, that someone else could put to good use and help them get ahead in life, I'm in.   Giving back doesn't always have to take a lot of effort, and one of my favourite quotes is, 'If we all do a little, no one has to do a lot'...

Don't forget the accessories!  Perfumes, jewelry, shoes and more are great items to consider when going through your closet--what woman wouldn't love to have a new scent to try out or a pretty bangle on her wrist?

With that said, I'm super excited to share the Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company #BandTogether campaign.  Essentially, they are planning to donate $2 million to support three important charities -- health, home & hunger -- and they need our help in decided how the record-breaking donation will be divided up--plus every vote you make enters you into a weekly draw to win three stacking bands from STACKED New York--a $450 value.

The campaign is running from today until July 31, 2016 at 11pm Central Time, so between now and then, head over and vote for your favourite listed charity ($1M will go to the first place winner, $700k to the second and $300k to third); it's free & you'll be helping make a difference.  You can vote daily to increase your chances of winning, too.  #awinwin

I would say 70% of my closet edits are donated, the rest is consigned when possible.
I think its a great idea to put to use our unworn clothes by donating them.
