A couple weekends ago my girl friend took me out to Mangia for an awesome birthday dinner.  I'd never heard of the place before, let alone been there, and it was a fabulous experience.  It wasn't too busy for a Saturday night, but the service, food and decor were awesome.  The place is decorated with deep red walls, a dark wood bar area, chic cream chairs and a couple buttery leather booths in cream.  The food is Italian and the atmosphere is chic, modern and casual fine dining.  We had one of the best seats in the house, right beside the window and had such a great evening.  Thanks CB.

Husband and I went on a lil' date the other night to a new place we'd never been to (thanks for the recommendation LM) and loved it.  We got dolled up, didn't have a reservation (they don't take 'em between 6pm and 8pm) and were seated pretty quickly despite the restaurant being packed. (I actually think they made a table for us while we waited - how's that for service?).  The food was delicious and we had a fantastic time.  I pretended it was my 'birthday dinner' since hubs picked up the tab (love that) but still had to be the DD and get us home.  Ha.

While out car shopping the other day (yes, car shopping as in I might-be-buying-a-new-car-but-let's-not-get-too-excited-in-case-it-doesn't-pan-out-shopping), husband and I stopped in at Bridgehead for a hot beverage.  Of course I couldn't resist the date squares (hubs got a ginger cookie and a chocolate chip/pecan cookie), although I almost went for the chocolate-pecan square.  I have a serious sweet tooth!

We went out to breakfast on the weekend to one of our regular spots (Cora's) and had a delicious breakfast (and by breakfast I pretty much mean breakfast food at lunch because we like to sleep in and didn't get there till after noon). Sometimes I don't like going to Cora's because the service can be so-so and the food isn't always hot, however, the selection of food is excellent (when it's hot) and this time in particular we had the sweetest woman as our server which made the experience that much better.  I had the two egg breakfast (with bacon, hash-browns and toast) and then treated myself to a chocolate-banana crepe afterwards (so yummy).  Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't, but it's always very nostalgic when I do because husband ordered one for us when we first started dating after we were done eating our breakfast.  I thought it was kind of strange getting 'dessert' after breakfast but soon learned it was far from strange and strictly awesomeness.

Random fact:  I don't really drink coffee but love the coffee here.  So much so that I had three cups.  Three.

We love to eat out and one of our favourite places is Baton Rouge.  We went the other night for an impromptu date (which was so nice), arrived around 8pm without a reso, waited about half an hour and had a fantastic time.  I had the ribs, he had the steak, we ate a ton and split a great bottle of Shiraz (my fave).  When dessert time rolled around, we were both bursting at the seams but an acquaintance friend of hubs who works there brought us a cheesecake sampler (three cheesecakes) 'on the house'.  How sweet is that?  And you can bet we ate the entire thing!

I wore my new double finger ring from Stitches and my red OTK boots (last seen here)

We went out to one of our 'all-you-can-eat' sushi spots the other night and had a great time.  We thought it'd be cheaper because it was a weekday (whereas weekends are more expensive).  As it turns out, it was $1 cheaper (one dollar).  Oh well.  It was delish and I discovered my new favourite: rhe rainbow roll.  Okay, second favourite because I'll never love anything more than the spider roll.

There is a new restaurant in town called La Cuisine Pacific Rim.  A mix of fine French cuisine and Asian flare, you can get it all at this hot spot.  Super chic decor with a modern element, the restaurant is cascaded with chocolate browns and light lime greens, marble bar tops and sleek tables and chairs.  The owner and head Chef used to work for the Pitsburg Steelers, and his sushi is to-die-for.

My mom made the sweetest suggestion to my sister and I that we have a girls dinner before the wedding.  Sort of a, 'Last girls dinner before Amanda gets married' - isn't that so sweet?  At the last minute, she asked if my Dad should come, but we decided to keep it just the girls.  It worked out nicely too as she planned it for the night M was out of town for his (second) bachelor party.  We went to Milestones (one of my fave restaurants) and had a delicious dinner.  Afterwards, we headed back to my sister's place for some wine and chatter.  It was a fabulous night - thank you, Mom!

Banana Republic dress, Vintage necklace (belonged to my great-grandmother!),
Lilliana pumps (also seen here), Suzy ring, Givernchy tights

So I've gone back on my word.  The weather went from super warm to somewhat chilly, hence, I'm back to wearing tights.  Not only does it seem appriopriate, but I haven't given my self-tanner the love it deserves and until then, the tights will reine.

Last night, my fiancé and I went to check out the fab restaurant my bff works at, as a potential wedding venue.  We (sort-of) surprised her and had requested we sit in her section.  She was super happy to see us, as was I to see her (she's amazing!).  We had a fab dinner and of course she spoiled us with wine & two amazing desserts.  I stuffed myself and felt so full after, but it was a great night!  Love you beavs.
