Happy Tuesday ladies! This past weekend was Thanksgiving in Canada so it was a long weekend for me with tons of family & eating. First though, some very sad news....
...we had to put our family dog, Peanut, down. A lot of you have seen her on the blog over the years and I've had her for half my life. She would have been 16 next month and has given us a lot of joy over the years. It was a terribly hard decision to make and three months ago we thought we were going to have to do it, after she had really declined, but then she seemed to improve.
Then, last week, she had a mini stroke last week which really hindered her ability to walk and even stand up. She would spend about 23 hours a day sleeping and lost her bark. It's really hard to talk about it, but at the same time, she was such a huge part of our life, I wanted to share it here. We are going to miss her so much.

I had some errands to run later on in the day and threw on a hat to look pulled together even though I felt pretty sad. When I got home, we ordered some take-out.
On Saturday morning, I got up extra early to head out and grab some last minute items since we were hosting Thanksgiving dinner that evening for 11 people.
The view from our condo is getting really colourful--I never tire of this!

You might noticed the bed in this picture--which isn't the norm for this room. Marco's Mom came to stay with us for Thanksgiving weekend and our friend lent us this bed, which is so awesome! It turned out to be quite comfortable she said, and worked out perfectly. What a cool idea.
For the table-décor, I knew I wanted to go with neutrals and metallic (no orange leaves, nor bright pumpkins over here). I searched Home Sense, Bouclair, Winners & more for décor but came up empty handed--minus those log-looking candles & that cool cutting board with the rose-gold handle.
I already had the burlap/metallic table-runner and pulled out my copper/rose-gold pitcher and the wicker candle holders. It all came together when I found those little neutral-looking pumpkin squash at the grocery store. I'm not a huge fan of symmetry, but I like likeness so I grabbed three for the 'centre piece' and then two for one end and one for the other end. It turned out awesome, but not over the top.
FULL LOOK/DEETS COMING THIS WEEK
On Sunday, we hit the gym while Marco's Mom did some shopping, which was really nice because I seriously over indulged this weekend in general! Afterwards, we did some shopping and then headed home to relax.
I picked up this new blanket at Home Sense last week and love it. I'd been eyeing a very similar one in red, but those orange pillows are enough colour for me.
I had secretly said to myself, 'If I find something like this in black, I'll get it...' Well, well well, about a week or two later I came across this one and it was a done deal.
Also, how cute are the squash on the window-sill? Marco put them there after the dinner & I quite like it.
That evening was dinner with my family again, at my Grandparent's place this time. So delicious and I never tire of turkey!
HIM: SWEATER
This guy. Since it's Thanksgiving and we're getting all mushy... well, we weren't, but are now... pretty thankful for him. It hasn't been the easiest month for us but we are hanging in there and appreciate all the love you guys have sent.
On Monday, we took a drive to Gatineau Park and took a mini hike around Pink Lake. It was pretty packed with people but the views and colours were beautiful.
Afterwards, we took Marco's Mom to our favourite Viet spot for lunch. Then went downtown to walk around and do a little people-watching and shopping.
Hope you all had a great weekend, and a Happy Thanksgiving if you're in Canada. As always, thanks for reading and see you tomorrow!

Sorry to hear about your dog. I've been reading your blog for quite some time and I love animals, so I know how hard this can be. Greetings from Belgium!
@Carolina: thank you SO MUCH, that is really kind and appreciated. Thanks for letting me know you're from Belgium--that is so cool!!
Sounds like power packed Thanksgiving, wow! Please share your secret on how to fit so much into one day, haha! In mentioning Gatineau park though, my fb and I tried to go but we had to do a drive-by as traffic so bad at the time. Still a beautiful view though :)
