What a difference a day makes!
Our first day in Rome was freezing and raining but by day two, the sun came out and despite it still being frigid, it was much more pleasant with a bit of heat beaming down on us.
More pics after the jump...
We decided to spend our second day sightseeing, but got a bit of a late start. We had wanted to visit the Vatican museum, but unfortunately it was closed as it was Easter Monday. So, we headed over to see Piazza Navona... with about a thousand other people.
Afterwards, we wandered over to the Pantheon to have a looksey.
At one point we rounded a corner and saw Palm Trees! I was shocked and never knew they grew in Rome, so that was a pleasant surprise (who doesn't love a good palm tree, right? Well, especially us folks from snowy climates half the year).
Then we decided to do the hop-on / hop-off bus tour of Rome, which I would highly recommend if you're looking to do some serious sight-seeing. We just stayed on for the whole ride, which was close to two hours, but had plans for the next day to use our pass (which was good for 24 hours) to hop on and off.
We saw the Piazza Venezia which was on one side of a huge round-about/traffic-circle.
And that pretty much sums up the second day of Rome. In the evening we ended up sleeping through our dinner reservation--oops--and taking a taxi back to Dar Poeta for pizza at 11pm! It was a total spur of the moment / we're-hungry-now decision that was fun.
