Okay, this is a little bit of a weird one this week, but I heard this discussed on the radio and was shocked at what I heard.
The morning show I listen to, has two men and two women. The men were all for shower peeing, claming it saves time, is sterile, and isn't a big deal. The two women were totally grossed out and did not agree.
I spoke to a few of my friends before posting this, wondering if I should go there, and most of the girls I asked said they did, but one said, 'I bet 60% of women do but half won't admit it'.
I personally don't think there is anything wrong with it, and totally 'go there'. I mean, why waste time (and toilet paper) if you don't have to? (Haha)
Are you brave enough to Chat about this?

Well, if you're getting ready to take a shower and you realize that you need to pee, aren't you already probably pretty close to your toilet? I refuse to believe that people don't have the time to spare to use a toilet properly, and instead rationalize peeing on themselves by saying that they're saving time and money, and telling themselves that it's not gross because you're rinsing it away at the same time that you're doing it?
What's next; going for a walk and realizing that you need to take a crap, and deciding that to save time and money, you'll just do your business behind a tree like an animal instead of trying to find a bathroom?
@Harper: LOL. So I guess it's safe to say you don't pee in the shower.
I guess it is a matter of preference but I don't see peeing in the shower as gross. And I think people have been peeing in the shower for a good many years now and it isn't the norm to see someone poop in broad daylight....unless you live in India of course!
@MelMac!!: Good point ;)
I do it and don't think there is anything wrong or gross about it - unless there is someone showering with you! ;)
No way!! So gross. The argument that it's sterile doesn't really work either...everyone's urine is sterile but does that mean you'd want someone else to pee on you, because their pee is sterile too?
I do, the sound of the running water in the morning or after the gym makes me need to go WHILE I am already in there. If I had to go on the way there, I would use the toilet, obvi. But, there is no way I would hold it through a 20 min shower and then get out, dry off and go to the toilet.
It is NOWHERE close to the equivalent of taking a crap outside. It is more equivalent to spitting in the sink while you are brushing your teeth, since it is draining down already.
I don't think there is anything "wrong" with it, as it is your own body and own pee..not someone elses, so c'est la pee.
More scandalous question to you all: do you/have you peed in a pool or a hot tub?? And don't lie..I know you have! ;)
Hahahaha I love the banter on this one :)
@Sarah Pee: Too funny! And ya, I'm not going to hold it in the shower either.
@Carla: LOL I'm not talking about someone peeing on ME or peeing on something while showering WITH them, ewwww, lol. Just some pee going down the drain; NBD.
I think a guy would be more open to admitting that they do this, since the world is their toilet anyway. I don't think it's gross. It's efficient on time, toilet paper and water! It makes more sense to pee while in the shower than having to hold it and pee after you're already clean.
I would not compare this to taking a doodie outside at all! You're in your own shower, cleaning your self anyway, so why not do double duty (no pun intended :P)
Btw, these "going there" discussions are great - it gets people out of their comfort zone (and gets them to admit to things they wouldn't do in person)
Just make sure you clean your showers thoroughly, ladies...and here are some tips if you're going to continue that classy habit:
1. Aim for the drain if you can’t refrain.
2. Don’t play with your pee: for example, trying to write your name on a steamed-up glass door (I really hope no women have tried to do this...)
3. Consider asking those with whom you share the shower what their feelings would be if they found out you peed in the shower. Remember, not everyone does it.
4. Wear flip-flops in communal showers. Chances are very good that someone is peeing in it.
5. Establish a schedule if you want to stop the habit: go to the bathroom and then take your shower. It’s not hard to stop once you give it a little thought.
I absolutely pee in the shower! If you keep your feet far apart, it's not going to get all over you for goodness sakes!
As for Carla's comment... Yes, other people's urine is sterile, but no, I don't want it on me. It's the same way with anything "gross" - would you want to wipe someone stranger's bottom? NO! Does it gross you out to wipe your own child's bottom? NO! (Well maybe but you do it out of love and don't freak out about it.) Your own bodily fluids or those you love are not going to gross you out the way other people's do.
If people think it's gross to pee in their own shower, that's fine. But these absurd comparisons are just ridiculous!
@LandoftheGlam: Haha 'no pun intended'. Love the feedback, thanks! :) Makes me want to continue this series :)
@Carla: Cute rules!! <3
Yeah. I pee in the shower, but in MY own shower (and maybe in a hotel one, if I'm travelling). It's my shower and I'm the one that cleans it, so why not pee away!! tee hee. I love these Let's Chat discussions. It's so fun to read everyone's input. :)
xx Love & Aloha
