Today I went for a wedding dress fitting, just the mesculin, but it was great.  I've been debating between a couple of options and since my dress is being custom made, it's a great opportunity to really make it my own.  The fitting went extremely well and I  brought my good friend (& bridesmaid!) JM with me.  She was super helpful as we first met when I was first shopping for my wedding dress over a year ago.  Although she no longer works in the bridal industry, she certainly hasn't lost her touch.

Tonight I'm going to a concert so I have to run and get ready.  Stayed tuned for pix.

{ my fiancé thought it was imperative to get a shot of the fingerless gloves }

{ so windy! }

{ I didn't realize I was pulling my cardi up in this shot, but like how it turned out }

{ circle scarf }

I've wanted a circle scarf for a while now, but didn't want to pay the price that went along with one from a store.  So, I headed to my closest fabric store, picked up 1.5m of yellow jersey fabric to see if I could make one myself.  I'm pretty excited with the end result because it turned out quite nice!  I'm no sewer by any means, but my mom has a sewing machine that I've hemmed pants the odd time, so I gave it a shot.  I learned how to create a french seam during this project too, and can't wait to wear my new accessory!

{ yellow jersey fabric - the colour looks pale, but it's quite a vibrant yellow }

{ this shows the french seam -
unfortunately I didn't have any yellow thread, so this will have to do }

Ways to Wear It:

{ length-wise around the neck }

{ length-wise wrapped around the neck }

{ doubled-up around the neck }

{ hooded & doubled-up around the neck }

{ shoulder shawl }

{ one-sleeved top }

{ criss-cross }

{ tied at the shoulder & belted as a dress }

Mexx top & bubble skirt, Joe jacket & necklace,
Wild Diva peep-toe booties, Suzy cuff

Well it's official: I have lost my (winter) legs.  That's right, the tights have come off and I'm so excited!  We are officially in spring (in my books) and I have put my tights away till the fall.  It's been six long months of wearing tights almost every day and I'm more than ready to go bare-legged.  I have to smile when I read about other bloggers (who live in generally warm climates year 'round, ie. LA) who get excited to put on tights due to cooler evening temperatures.  It's like a treat for them, which is nice, but here, it's a neccessity.  I'd look ridiculous running around with bare legs in the dead of January (ie. when the temperature drops below -25C).  Regardless, spring has sprung and tights are done... well, for a few months at least.

I received the Sunshine Award (for the second time! Woot!) from the beautiful SOPHIASA.  As an uber cool mom, she showcases her style and sometimes we even get a glance at her adorable daughter (aka mini-sophiasa).  And of course, I cannot forget that she was the first person to put me in their blog roll.  Thanks SOPHIASA.

Since I am to nominate some favourite bloggers, I'm creating my own theme and going with (my favourite) ladies who have the word 'fashion' in their blog title:

{ golden raisins, craisins, unsalted cashew halves, unsalted almonds, walnut pieces }

One of my great friends JM had me snacking on her awesome trail mix last week while we were 'patiently' waiting for our dinner to cook.  It was so delicious, and the best part: home made.  She combined the above five ingredients for a great tasting, healthy, trail mix!  I couldn't resist, and of course took her idea and made myself a batch.  Now I have a huge tub full of it that should last several weeks.  Thanks for the great tip, JM!
