I have been doing the spray tan thing for almost two years.  The biggest struggle is getting my tan to last longer.  Usually after three or four days, it starts to fade out and you're in that weird in-between phase where you're not ready to exfoliate it off already but would like a bit more colour.
The other day I remembered seeing something on tv saying how there is alcohol in shaving cream.  Alcohol of course is drying, and in turn doesn't help prevent your tan from fading.

We all know that shaving removes a thin thin thin layer of skin, aka the spray-tanned layer.  So, while in the shower the next time, I decided to try something out:

Replace my shaving cream with body lotion instead.

And guess what?

My tan lasted two to three days longer on my legs (the part that seems to fade the fastest, other than my face, of course) than before!  Success!

Now, before you start thinking I used some special lotion or fancy-smanchey razor, I didn't.  I used the Equate 'Total Moisture' lotion (above) that is sold at Walmart (found this one in Florida) and a regular Bic 'Pastels' two-blade razor.

Once in the shower, legs wet, I slathered the lotion on one leg (about a pump and a half), and shaved it and repeated with the other leg.  Bonus: extra soft and smooth skin!

Will you try out this tip?

* Don't forget, the best way to prolong your spray tan is to moisturize on a daily basis, especially after you get out of the shower, which zaps a lot of moisture from your skin.  Water-based moisturizers are best.

Outfit deets:
* Old Navy button down that I've had for years.  The last time I wore it was with dark denim (flared this time), no cami underneath and the same belt!  Sub-concious inspiration?  Also seen with a leopard skirt and the white/grey striped version.
* Smart set cami.
* Sirens jeans which I don't think I've blogged before but do wear them frequently.
* Aldo wedges which I picked up last fall and am so glad I did because they are chic, comfy and easy to walk in.  Plus I love pairing them with jeans.
* Accessories: H&M belt & thick bangle, Old Navy bangle, Pandora bracelet & Suzy rings.

I am a bad reactor.

If someone does something I don't like, namely someone close to me, I might react badly.

I like to be in control.  You can't always be in control.  Someone who likes to be in control but isn't can sometimes have a bad reaction.

Whoopsies.

I have discussed negative qualities on my blog before; we all have them, it's inevitable, but it's how we handle those traits.

I had an interesting discussion with my parents last weekend about reactions.  Without going into too much detail, my Dad (who I consider one of the most laid-back people I know) offered up some advice on this topic.  Now, before I spill the words of wisdom, you must know that this is a very simple piece of advice, but very difficult to execute:

Don't react.

That's it!  That's it?  Yes, that's it.  Simple and effective, but certainly not easy.

A counselor once told me when you are put into a situation where you emotions are getting the best of you, your brain immediately turns to 'fight or flight'.  If you take the simple step of taking a deep breath in through the nose and a big exhale through the mouth, the two options (fight or flight) will dissapate and you will be able to more calmly react.

So with those two words of advice, I have been putting this to the test since Monday, and you know what?  It kind of works.  That's not to say I didn't want to errupt at times or fly off the handle (or actually did for that matter), but it did put a thought into me that I've never had before: don't react.

Try it for yourself and see if it works!

Hello everyone, this is A & P from 365 Fashion Rehab and we are super pumped to be guest blogging here for Amanda while she's on her honeymoon!  Congratulations!

Are you trying to be a more conscious shopper? How do you know when the time is right to part with your hard-earned dollars and make a purchase? For some people, it happens in an instant. They see something they like and they dive in head-first. The brave will see something they love, soak it in, and then head home for the night to reflect about the desired item. If they wake up in the morning and are still loving it, out they go, hoping it will still be there. For the insanely brave, that would be us here at 365 Fashion Rehab, we gave it all up for one whole year. When we saw something we liked, we had to wait 365 days to see if we still wanted it. (Now that’s thinking time!)

When it comes to spending, one of the things we learned from our year of “going without” is that timeless purchases really are best, especially when the price is high. Classic styles - wrap dresses, shifts, cardigans, skinny black pants - will last through many seasons. Fortunately this season, classics are back with a bang. We are currently lusting after Camel coats, ladylike, structured handbags, and chunky knits. But don’t forget to save room in your budget (about 20%) for trend driven pieces, too. Faux-fur vests, floral printed pants, fringe handbags, and anything leopard are all so hot right now.

We could go on for days about it, but the basic rule of thumb is that if you can’t afford it, do not buy it. If you have something similar in your closet, do not buy it. If you are on the fence about the trend, then chances are most people are too, and it won’t last long. Don’t waste your money!

Take it from us, we know. How do you think we ended up in Fashion Rehab in the first place?
