We arrived in Bellagio yesterday afternoon, travelling from Venice on the train, then by car to this beautiful, small town. Situated in the province of Como, we were really excited to stay in the main part of the village at Hotel du Lac. Situated directly across from the ferry, steps from amazing food and shops, the location really cannot be beat.
We checked into our hotel and headed out to explore the little town. Bellagio is definitely a walk-able town, and you certainly won't need a car here. There are, however, tons of stairs to go up and down, so flat, comfortable shoes are a must. Poke around the boutiques, purchase Como-famous silk scarves or grab a gelato and take in the amazing views.
Back at the hotel, we were totally pumped to see we had a balcony and a beautiful view of the lake. It was perfect to take in the views, have a drink, but also to leave the glass doors open to let the cool breeze in during the evening.
The rooms have been re-done and we loved the modern, yet authentic Italian feel they still had--think, grey hardwood floors, modern bedding but classic lighting and arm chairs. The bathroom was large and spacious, and everything felt bright and clean.
That said, if you don't have a room with a balcony, you can head up to the fifth floor rooftop garden which has an even better view of the lake and the beautiful sunset. Had it been warmer, we totally would have gotten our swimsuits on to relax on the loungers for the afternoon.
The most beautiful sunsets here, it's like a painting, the views are so incredible. Also, perfect to cuddle up with some bubbly and celebrate being on vacation.
The next morning was rainy and chilly, but the view was still incredible and so peaceful to look at...
We headed down to the continental breakfast for a small feast. They had a great set up with tons of tables for seating, including a beautiful veranda to eat outside, plus a size-able buffet you could help yourself too. There were tons of options from scrambled eggs and bacon (often a hard thing to find in Italy), various breads and croissants, fresh cut up and whole fruit, various meats and cheeses, yogurt, pastries, fresh juice and more.
I loved that they had a self serve coffee station with several heated pots of coffee and milk. As someone who needs her coffee in the morning, waiting for someone to bring it to me can sometimes be painful! #halfjoking
Definitely a wonderful experience. Stay tuned for more travel adventures in Italy.
