I have never been on a blind date, but I have done online dating before. Meeting the person for real is kind of like a blind date; you've seen a picture, but never met in real life. You've chatted, likely just online or through text, but maybe never heard their voice before. I remember feeling very nervous and trying on a bazillion outfits.
Also, how do you greet the person? A handshake seems so formal, but a hug is so personal for a 'stranger'.
Would you ever go on a blind date?
FUN FACT: My parents met on a blind date.

I've never been on a blind date, either! Online, yet, which, as you said, can sometimes be like a blind date anyway haha. (Online dating photo horror stories over here.)
I feel like a handshake is always so weird, but a hug might be awkward.
Oh boy, modern romance. ;)

I've been on a blind date AND done the online dating thing and I would have to say they are not TOO different. The best thing about a blind date is you tend to have someone in common that suggested you two should get together, whereas in online dating it's nice to have a bit more dialogue before the meet. I wouldn't be opposed to doing either again but they are definitely weird! On the plus side you either end that experience with a boyfriend, a friend, or a funny story :)
I went on one and only one blind date. A friend had shown my picture to a classmate at his art college and set us up. I thought what the heck and went for it.
The guy shows up and the first thing he tells me, even before hello nice to meet you, is he has no money... will I buy him a drink? It just got more awkward from there when I was trying to make conversation with him, he told me I talked too much. After sitting in silence for a few minutes he offered to show me his "art"- Anime-style drawings of nekkid Japanese school girls in compromising positions.
Finally I went to the bathroom and called my BFF to pick me up. The next time I saw my friend he told me his classmate really liked me and had a good time. Needless to say there was no second date!
I've only been on a couple blind dates. The worst was when I was in high school a much older cousin set me up with a high school senior who was interning at her office. He showed up for the date and promptly asked me where my dad worked and what kind of car he drove - obviously wanted to assess my family's financial situation.
We made awkward conversation and then he asked me to his prom! I was so startled that I said yes, and then immediately regretted it. He called me a few more times and visited me once and started acting really snobbish so I told him I wasn't interested in going to his prom with him after all.
He went to the prom alone and a few weeks later showed up at a family party looking for me (I wasn't there). Moral of the story: don't let relatives set you up!!!
