Happy Monday ladies! How was your weekend?
Friday was super low key--we got a snowstorm, I got a spray tan and we grabbed Greek take-out and watched a movie. Saturday though, Saturday was awesome; we hosted a small birthday brunch for one of our friends and I'd love to share more photos, if you like to see...
Coffee's on!
We hosted five of our friends for brunch and I did as much as I could the evening before to prepare. I cleaned the condo, set the table, put up decorations etc. I decided to go really traditional (ie. not Pinterest-y) for the decor--a throwback to good ol' streamers, a birthday banner and balloons. It was fun, inexpensive, and still celebratory without being over the top.
We host quite a bit, and with each time, it gets a little easier. I'm finding my groove finally, and enjoy playing sous-chef to the boyfriend (who is always cool as a cucumber).
We decided on a menu that consisted of smoked salmon eggs benedict, fried chicken and waffles, cinnamon buns and our friends brought mimosas. The timing was more of a leisurely meal with people eating one after the other, but we still had a great time. Most importantly, the birthday boy was happy and full.
Once everyone left and the tidying up was done, I made a snack of healthy pancakes and headed out to the mall in search of a couple athletic wear tops. I had seen a few cute ones at Garage last week but didn't have time to try them on. I ended up finding them and having no luck--nor any luck anywhere else so I went home empty handed.
That night, I surprised Marco with a fondue meal--a sort of, post-Valentine's Day dinner.
Have you guys ever done fondue? I love it, it's such a special yet simplified meal that you can take your time with. It's great for groups but it's also equally sweet with your partner or friend, especially to get cozy and chat over.
Sidenote: this fondue broth is our favourite.
After dinner, we went out to meet up with our friends for more birthday celebrations.
Sunday morning: pancakes & workouts.
Then later that day I went to my parent's place for dinner before heading home to bed.
Hope you had a great weekend. Happy Monday!
