{ the award Helen designed }

I was so pumped when I discovered that Helen at In Elegance awarded me with her special blog award.  Thanks, lovely!

This award is a little different as each recipient designs their own award to pass on, that way each award is unique and different.

Here is my award:

I want to pass this along to some seriously loyal readers:

Jamie @ GLAM LATTE
Julianne @ Lace and Leather
Sharon @ elisharon
Louise @ Fifth Sparrow
Tiffany @ I am Style-ish
Sophiasa
Every year, at the end of May, a large (wealthier) area of town puts on a neighbourhood-wide 'garage sale'.  And I'm not talking just a few houses here and there, no, we are talking full on selling, every corner, every parking lot, every drive-way within a 10x10 block radius.

This year marks the 25th anniversary, so I'm excited to see what's in store.  Speaking of stores, even they participate in the sale, bringing their baked goods outside and offering up freshly brewed coffee.  Last year I went for the first time and it was mayhem-but totally worth it.  I walked away with a few CD's, a couple clutches, some napkin rings and more... for less than $20.  Awesome.

On Saturday, I am meeting my sister at (cringe) 6:45am to get a head start on the day.  Since the garage sale starts at 8am, and parking is horrendous, she's ensuring we are there with plenty of time to spare.  You know what they say, one person's trash is another person's treasure!
F21 top (purchased on the weekend), H&M skirt, Sirens sash,
Lilliana pumps (also seen on Justine), Suzy necklace (also seen here) & ring,
Tiffany bracelet (also seen here), fiancĂ©'s watch & Old Navy Bangle

Sometimes, in the office, we get a theme going for our clothing.  One week we had a specific colour to wear each day, one day was stripes, today was polka dots.  It's really neat when people participate.  Being the festive girl I am, I couldn't pass up the perfect opportunity to rock my new tiered polka dot top (and of course I doubled up with this sash I've had forever).  Unfortunately, the participation rate wasn't that high this time around or I would have gotten a picture of everyone to show you all.

In other news, Thursday evening I went to see Sex & The City 2!  I met up with my good friend (CG) and we hit up the 7:30pm show.  It was busy, but not too packed and we had perfect seats.  The movie was great, the fashion was good and the accessories were inspiring.  A must see for all die-hards (but obviously, you're going anyways!) - enjoy the show!

This time, I used the ol' Random.ORG counter as I received more than 50 entries!  I listed all your names into an Excel spreadsheet in the order the comments were received.  Any tweets I received and you didn't leave a comment, you still got an additional entry, I just added those tweets to the bottom, in the order they came in (oldest to newest).

And the winner is...

Congratulations Louise

When Toni from The Fashion Cloud contacted me to let me know I won her big give-away, I practically fell off my chair because the give-away was soo good.  The package has finally arrived and I unwrapped it with great excitement to find a plethora of wonderful things inside. * Don't forget to enter my A.Co Designs give-away !

Katie from Fashion's Maven just gifted me with a special award!  YIPEE!  I've never received this one, and that makes it even more exciting.  Thanks so much, Katie!

I'm going to nominate a few of my favourite girls:

My BBFF Jamie @ GLAM LATTE
Melinda @ Shop T.O. Live
My friend IRL, Ka @ Miss Robinson

My BBFF Jamie from GLAM LATTE has gifted me with a blogger award (thnx JW!).  Last time, I listed some facts about myself and this time the rules are no different:  I have to list 7 things about myself and then nominate a few other bloggers for the award.

1.  I'm chronically late.  It's terrible.  I'm trying to fix it.
2.  My nails are always painted, including toes (even in the winter, just like JW)
3.  One of my good friends (AT) just got engaged and I'm sooo happy for her/them!
4.  For work, I prefer skirts to dress pants.
5.  I steam everything and steam everyday.  Okay, not my socks.  (What? I don't like creases)
6.  I've purchased my wedding shoes (!) and have been instructed to, 'break them in' ...but isn't that cheating?!
7.  I'm more of a necklace person than an earring person.

Nominations go to:

Sharon @ elisharon
Julianne @ Lace and Leather
Louise @ Fifth Sparrow

When Lena from Quality Rivets contacted me to inform me I'd won the (awesome) give-away on her blog, I jumped for joy!  I'm so pumped and couldn't believe I won!  Well, the package has arrived and the Samantha Vega clutch she sent me is awesome and it will certainly get lots of use.  Thanks so much, Lena!

* On Monday I was sick and stuck in bed all day.
Thank you for all your amazing comments and I
will catch up on your blogs asap!
Amy over at Junghwa by Amy Stewart does these awesome posts on Friday, fun facts actually, where she divulges various things about herself. I love reading it and look forward to it each week. I thought it would be fun to steal this idea, so let's go:

Fact #1:
I know how ride a motorcycle. I took a course five years ago and finally understood why my dad was so obsessed. Since then, a good friend re-taught me last summer on his bike (a Yamaha R1), which was amazing. We went out several times throughout the summer and I even took it on (deserted & quiet) roads. I have a (huge) itch to buy a bike and hope to do so in the somewhat near future.

(Side note: Both my parents are bikers so I say it's in my genes ;)

Fact #2:
I have a dog named Peanut and she is 10 years old.  She lives with my parents but is our family dog.  She's part shih tzu, part bichon frisĂ© and is so soft and cuddly (and stubborn).  We got Peanut when she was only a mere two months old and could fit in the palm of our hand.  Now, she is about 15 pounds but still enjoys being picked up and carried around.  Can't imagine my life without her.

Fact #3:
My fiancĂ© and I have been together for six years and engaged for almost two years.  This photo was taken at our one year anniversary.

Fact #4:
I only have one friend (PK) that is taller than me, or... we might be the exact same height (5'11).  I tower over everyone else ... and it doesn't help that I always wear heels.

Fact #5:
My bff (SL) and I have been friends since we met in grade 4.  Through good times and bad, we have never been closer than we are now and I couldn't ask for a better friend.  At the end of the summer, she is moving away to another city (4 hours away) to go school.  While I'm so proud of her and happy for her to begin a new journey, I cannot stop getting emotional when I think about her moving away.  I know this is a great and fantastic thing for her, but I really don't know how I'm going to 'survive' without having her in this city.

Since I had a few ladies tweet & blog about this, I decided to do it the old fashioned way (thanks for the inspiration Elisharon) and write everyone's name on pieces of paper and fold them up.  If you tweeted about this give-away you got an extra entry and if you blogged about it, you got an extra two entries.

And the winner is...

Congratulations Julianne

Now, I know how much it sucks for everyone else that didn't win, and I wish I could give each and everyone of you a prize, but don't worry beecause... I'm going to be doing another give-away when I hit 100 followers!  So stay tuned and thank you all for entering!

I'm very behind, but very excited.  Three lovely ladies gave me three seperate awards for my blog!  Thank you so much ladies, it means a lot to me!

Follow the 'rules', here are some fun facts about me that go along with receiving these awards:

1.  I have one sibbling; a younger sister
2.  I'm getting married this summer
3.  I have six girls in my wedding party
4.  I speak English and French
5.  I own over 150 pairs of shoes
6.  Rap and hip-hop music is my preference
7.  I'm 5'11

I received the Sunshine Award (for the second time! Woot!) from the beautiful SOPHIASA.  As an uber cool mom, she showcases her style and sometimes we even get a glance at her adorable daughter (aka mini-sophiasa).  And of course, I cannot forget that she was the first person to put me in their blog roll.  Thanks SOPHIASA.

Since I am to nominate some favourite bloggers, I'm creating my own theme and going with (my favourite) ladies who have the word 'fashion' in their blog title:

Amy over at junghwa by amy stewart is having a sweet give-away on her site.  Not only does she make beautiful jewellery, she's giving it away.  Head on over to her site, become a follower and leave a comment.  You might get lucky and win.

A very special thank you to two lovely ladies: Jamie of GLAM LATTE & Lyddie of Chic on the Cheap, for adding me to their blog rolls!  This is very exciting and I am honoured.  Means a lot to me, ladies, thank you!

Be sure to check out both of their blogs.  They both have awesome outfit posts:  Jamie is a southern girl with chic girly style that's always well pulled together, and Lyddie has a great eclectic vibe and tons of fun tights.

My fiancĂ© and I went out to dinner tonight with our friends, Kay and her boyfriend.  We had a fabulous time and she was wearing the cutest booties with bows on them.  Her booties have officially inspired this post.  Look at all the cute bow apparel.  I think she's onto something...

Candie's Satin Bow Headband $6  | sale |

American Eagle Bow Lariat Necklace $15.50

Qupid Crinkle Bow Wedge $21.99

Lilliana Dance Bow Sandal $21.30

Tiered Ruffle Bow Skirt $14.80  | sale |

Aerie Ruffle Mesh Bralette $14.95  | sale |

LC by Lauren Conrad Bow Tee $22.99  | sale |

Forever 21 Short-Sleeve Bow Cardigan $23.80

I found this over at dot-dot-dot and found it really insightful.  My favourites are, "Ask for help with jobs you dislike," and, "Prepare for the morning the night before".  As a chronic 'late-person', I'm always running around at the last minute, trying to get organized.  I hate making people wait, but for some reason, I still do it.  It stresses me when I'm running late and even more when I know people are waiting for me.

One of my best friends, Kayla, hosted an Epicure party this weekend.  If you are unfamiliar with Epicure, they sell tons of spices, cook ware and ultimately, meal ideas.  Similar to a Tupperware party (if you will), we all gathered at Kay's house for an evening of food tasting, socializing, purchasing and of course indulging in some yummy beverages (Lindsay's punch, case in point).

I purchased a jar of taco seasoning, two jars of fruit crystals (very berry and tropical) which you mix with cool whip and get the most delectable fruit dip, and a dip baker in red that comes with a lid.
