Ever wear your clothes backwards?  I do.  Prime example right here.  This top is totally on backwards.  It has a kind of criss-cross strap-thing going on in the front and with the blazer, it was just too much coverage so I flipped it around and voila.

The weekend is getting close, so close I can almost taste it.  I'm heading out of town for the weekend and couldn't be more excited.  It's so nice to get away and relax, especially in good company.  I've been trying to eat super healthy this week and have even changed up my diet a bit to see if it would make a difference (and so I can super indulge this weekend - ha!).  Normally I eat a 12-grain bagel with peanut butter for breakfast everyday.  This week I've been making a brocoli, tomato & cheese egg-white omlette every morning instead (at work, none the less - special thanks to the person who taught me this).  It's delicious and fills me (and I stay full longer, I think).   I've been eating tons of fruit and veggies (but that's pretty normal for me) and have added chicken to my daily salad I make for myself.  My dinners have been good too (except a little indulgence the other night) with lots of protein (I sound like a health nut - that's kind of annoying because trust you me, I love me so treats).  Sometimes a little tweaking is good... but then again, next week I might be back to my old ways.

Sidenote:  I may or may not have eaten peanut butter straight from the jar a few times (I'm going through withdrawls!).

I'm writing this post from the guest bedroom on Sunday night.  Why Sunday night?  Because I always prepare the next day's post on the eve before.  Why the guest bedroom?  Meh.  Our desktop computer is completely f'ed and while it has been for a while, it's gotten worse hence my working from my laptop and well that can go just about anywhere.

Back to Sunday night: we went to husband's parents' house for dinner and as per usual, I stuffed myself.  It's inevitable.  Every time we go there, I stuff myself.  Did I mention my MIL is a chef?  Not by trade, by choice, and everything she makes is so delicious I can't help myself from going back for seconds (and thirds).  Tonight she made a maple-glazed salmon and chicken parm along with squash, carrots, cauliflower, baked sweet potato and dill-infused basmati rice.  I know, I was drooling too.  The best part: she packed me a lunch for Monday and I get to enjoy the tastiness all. over.again.

Aldo wedges (last seen here), Joe Fresh necklace & Dynamite belt

I wasn't kidding when I said these wedges might take precedent over my current faves - they've been getting a ton of play lately.  I've only had them for a week and a half and already worn them four times.  If you've seen my shoe room, that's playing favourites for sure.  This was the first time wearing them with the ankle strap and I have to say, quite impressive.  I could run all over the office, up and down stairs, all day long without any slippage.  Perfect!

In other news, this might just be the world's tiniest umbrella that-actually-covers-a-full-grown-working-woman.  I love the look of it, it's adorable with it's lace trim and the sunny yellow colour is peppy... however, I never understood people's comments when I'd be using this umbrella.  Asking me if I got it in the child's department, or if my umbrella was, 'big enough?'  After seeing these photos, I might just have to get rid of this thing stat.  I look like some sort of wanna-be-child freak.  Look how small the shaft (shaft? stick? handle?) is!  I guess I'm channeling my inner-child.  Yes, that's it, my inner-child.  From now on I need to start using this umbrella instead... which I DIY'ed myself.

Okay, so, I don't want to jinx anything, and I just might be doing so by writing this out, but, the weather has been so frickin' nice lately.  I mean, sure, I was away for the weekend, but, since coming back, nothing but blue skies.  I zipped out on my lunch hour to snap these photos as, hello, when I leave it's almost pitch black out, which is a huge downer.. and obviously not ideal for photo taking.  Ugh.  Regardless, I'm going to lap up the warmth while I still can and if that includes running around behind random buildings while a home-less man walks by just to get some outfit shots, then so be it.  Happy hump day!

Upon arriving at work the other day I realized I'd worn a very similar variation of this outfit  in the spring.  Funny I didn't realize that while getting dressed.

In other news, I took a really bad fall on Thursday night.  I was heading out to meet a friend and had thrown on some A&F sweatpants I'd cut into capris.  I slipped on my flip flops and headed out.  It was pouring rain and we have a deck on the front of our house.  While standing under the awning of the house at the door, I clicked my car doors unlocked and went to make a run for it.  Bad idea.  The combination of rain, on wood and me in flip flops made the deck super slippery, and with my second (run) step, my feet flew out from under me and I landed at the top step (of two) on my tailbone and slid down the stairs and rolled onto the pavement.  I swear my feet were higher than my head and it just happened so fast.  So there I was, lying on our driveway, screaming in pain, in the pouring rain.  It only took a few seconds to realize I was all alone (hubs was working) and I seriously needed to get up, if I could.  Just then, a man came running up our driveway (he'd heard my screams, but hadn't seen it happen) with his dog.  I was so grateful to see someone.  He helped me up, carried me onto the deck and sat me our deck furniture.  I sat there sobbing, covered in dirt and all wet.  He stayed with me until I was able to get up and go inside.  I guess my adrenaline was pumping because I walked into the house (in a lot of pain), grabbed a gel ice pack and layed down on the living room floor, crying hysterically.  I called my parents and they rushed over, with my sister (who was over there for dinner that night).  I layed in the living room crying and icing my tailbone / back, in so much pain.  Finally, after about a hour of laying there, my sister helped me roll onto my side so I could take some Advil from my mom.  About 15 minutes later, I tried to pull myself onto my knees with her help and the help of a chair.   Eventually, with lots of pain, I was able to sit on the chair (with one buttcheek hanging off as I really did a number to the left side of my tailbone / lower back).  I was unable to walk, and moving was really awful.  My sister had to drag me to the bathroom and eventually up to our room to go to bed.  On Friday I went to the chiropractor (my sister took me) and had x-rays done and an adjustment (and I'm not one who normally goes to the chiro, just FYI).  Upon leaving, I was walking with barely any limping and actually felt better.  However, still very very sore in my butt, back and neck.

Today I'm still in pain and have a hard time getting comfortable (sitting, standing and lying down hurts), but, it is definitely getting better.  I'm on the mend and am able to walk around normally, do stairs, etc.  Just trying to not make any sudden movements, I have to turn my whole body to talk to people (versus just turning my head) and am moving slowly.  However, I will survive and I am just so grateful to that man who helped me, and that I have such amazing friends and family to help me.

I debated for a couple months on these heels before pulling the trigger.  However, I was planning my wedding, and the finances had to be controlled (especially towards shoe purchases!).  After the wedding though, I couldn't take it any longer, especially when they gave me the opportunity to take 25% off - don't mind if I do!  Total bonus, they are quite comfortable and easy to walk in (yessssss).

Hi everyone!  My name is Isabel and I write the blog Walk Of Fashion.  I am very excited that Amanda has agreed to have me as guest blogger while she is busy preparing for her wedding and enjoying her honeymoon.  I hope you have a wonderful vacation, Amanda!

One of my favourite trends right now is leopard print.  Normally I am a bit against animal prints because if not worn carefully you end up looking like you belong in the zoo (IMO).  However, I have recently changed my tune and I am now loving animal prints, leopard to be specific, in small doses.  When worn right leopard print is such a chic way add some fun to a look.  Here are a few of my favourite items for adding a little leopard print to looks.

Leopard Print scarf, JC Penney $9.99

Leopard Ballet Flat, American Eagle $24.95
(Heels would also be super chic especially worn with dark denim)

Calf-Hair Skinny belt, Garnet Hill $48

And just to prove my point here is a photo of Katherine Power of Who What Wear photographed by Justin Coit.  I saw this photo on twitter and couldn't help but think, "How chic is she!?"

Do you ever have days where you just don't want to get all dolled up? Just days where you think, 'I just wanna dress comfy today?' - I have those days, and they often resort in me wearing flats.  This was one of those days, however, I have to be presentable for work, and this is what I came up with. That's not to say I can't wear flats at work; I can, and I certainly do, but just not this day.  I was really itching to wear this new top I bought in MTL during my Bachelorette Weekend - it's a crisp cotton, double layered, and oh-so a-line. Perfect for those bloaty-lazy-I-don't-wanna-dress-up-but-have-to kind of days.

...And you thought I was going to talk about diamonds.  Had a little outting with Peanut the other day.  She's such a curious thing, you can not take her off the leash - unless you never want to see her again!  She would take off immediately, especially if she hears kids (she loves kids).
