WEEKEND RECAP: IPHONE SNAPS

SWEATER  |  WINNERS SCARF (SIMILAR)  |  DENIM  |  DR. MARTENS

Hello, hello & happy Monday!  Did you have a good weekend?  It was a good one over here, with maybe a few too many Halloween treats though!

On Friday night, my bestie and I did some major back-to-work shopping for her.  She's heading back after being off for a year for maternity leave so some new clothes were in order.  We hit up Nordstrom and Simons and she scored many new pieces that I can't wait to see her rock.

Of course we needed fuel for the shopping trip, so...

24 HOURS IN PISA

LONG SLEEVE THERMAL (SIMILAR ON SALE)  |  NECKLACE  |  RAG & BONE SKINNIES -- SOLD OUT (ALMOST IDENTICAL, BUDGET FRIENDLY)  |  LACE UP FLATS  |  BAG (BUDGET FRIENDLY)

After a couple days in Florence, we took a train to Pisa, which was about 45 minutes away.  We had never seen it before, and since it was so close, we decided to do one night.

We arrived in the afternoon and took a taxi to our hotel, unloaded our things and set out to explore...

DRAPEY SWEATER VEST FOR WARM FALL DAYS

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  DRAPEY VEST (ALSO IN DARK GREY & TAN)  |  TANK  CHOKER  |  DARK DENIM  |  ZARA HEELS -- OLD (SIMILAR)  |  BAG (BUDGET FRIENDLY)  |  FUR POM

Happy Friday ladies, woohoo!  So excited for the weekend and to sleep in tomorrow.  This outfit is really fitting for this weather, considering we got snow last night!  While the dusting of the white stuff is kind of exciting, I'm hearing it's supposed to melt by the weekend and I can't say I'm mad.

What are your plans for the weekend?  Tonight I'm helping my bestie with some back-to-work clothing shopping #fun and tomorrow we are heading to a Halloween party.  We've done some fun costumes in the past, last year I was a mermaid, and the year before, Marco and I were mimes... and this year is still up in the air!  Eek!  It's going to be a bit of a scramble to pull something together but I'll share what I ended up going as on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

FLORENCE & THE BEGINNING OF THE ITALY TRIP

TRAVEL STYLE : SUEDE JACKET  |  OPEN BACK SWEATER -- ON SALE!  |  LEGGINGS  |  BOOTS  |  ALDO BAG (SIMILAR)

Hi ladies!  I took to Snapchat last night because I wasn't sure if I should share a huge photo round up of the entire trip to Italy in one post, or break it up into multiple posts per city.  I left it to a vote on Snap and multiple posts won by a landslide!  So thank you to everyone that voted with their screen shots, and that's what I will do.

First stop: Florence.

When we were planning our trip back in August, we had always said if we went back to Europe, we would do Spain or Greece.  However, when push came to shove, we kept going back to Italy, how much we loved it last time, and ultimately decided to go back and travel north this time, with the start our trip in our favourite city first.

BELL SLEEVE SWEATER & DISTRESSED DENIM

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  SWEATER (SIMILAR, LOVE THIS)  |  NECKLACE  |  DISTRESSED DENIM   |  PUMPS (LOVE THESE)  |  BAG (BUDGET FRIENDLY)  |  SUNGLASSES  |  FUR POM KEYCHAIN

I'm obsessed with bell sleeves and mock necks this year.  The bell sleeve trend has totally blown up (just scooped up this dress) and I'm fully on board.  Pair with your fave pair of distressed skinnies for date night, or dress it up with some slim fit trousers for work.

I tried on this budget friendly sweater last night and loved it--size up if you want a roomier fit like this one though, as I found it ran small.  I'm also sharing a ton of options after the jump because these sweaters are easy to wear, cozy and updates your outfit very easily.  For a more casual look, pair with some booties.

WEEKEND RECAP: IPHONE SNAPS

This weekend was low key.  And I know you're probably thinking, 'Yeah right, it's not like you sat around for seven + hours watching Netflix'...

Actually.
I.
Did.
#monkeycoveringeyesemoji

Like I mentioned on Snapchat, I think after two weeks of travelling, we needed to just chill the heck out and recharge the batteries.  Which meant, starting The Walking Dead, because Marco has been trying to convince me for four years to watch it with him.  I finally gave in, even though he's fully up to speed, and am now completely hooked.  Oh.  Em.  Gee.  What was I thinking I wouldn't be into this show?!

That said, things around here were so uneventful thatI feel a little sorry for this weekend recap because there isn't much to share.  However, I'll do my best, with a few photos from the party we went to on Friday night, because other than that, there was a whole lot of nothing happening, and it was glorious.

Hope you had a great weekend--be it lazy or eventful--and with that, onto the snaps!

7 EASY FALL OUTFITS TO RECREATE

Happy Sunday ladies, how is your weekend?  I wanted to hop on here and share some outfits I've worn recently.  A lot of outfits in real life don't make the blog, so thought this could be a fun way to showcase them.

Today's outfits are looks I've been wearing this fall on the weekends--I love casual, easy style, with a mix of heels and flats.  Let me know what else you'd love to see on this space.  Have a great rest of your weekend!

MY FAVOURITE HOTEL IN ITALY: GRAND HOTEL VILLA SERBELLONI

While in Italy, we visited Bellagio, a little town up north, on Lake Como.  To say it was an amazing experience doesn't do it justice because the hotel and scenery were so unbelievably beautiful, you'd think it was out of a painting.

We stayed for two nights, and on our second night we spent it at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni--the only five star hotel in Bellagio.  The hotel is family owned and has been for generations.  Built as a private home in 1853, it was turned into a luxury hotel 20 years later, and regularly quoted as one of the best hotels in the world.  #ibelieveit

The day we arrived, it was beautiful, warm and sunny.  We took advantage by exploring the property and snapping some photos.  I'm so glad we did, because the following day, it rained all day long--however, considering it was the best hotel of our entire trip, not a bad way to hang out indoors (plus their Internet connection was amazing).

SUEDE MOTO JACKET WITH A BLANKET SCARF

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  SUEDE MOTO JACKET  |  BLANKET SCARF (SIMILAR)  |  TANK  |  CHOKER  |  DISTRESSED DENIM (BUDGET FRIENDLY)  |  ALDO BOOTS -- OLD (SIMILAR, SIMILAR, WANT THESE)

Hi ladies, happy Tuesday!  How is your week going?  I'm fighting some serious post-vacation blues, and while I'm happy to be home, settling back into reality is hard.  That said, I think having several days to get back to normalcy before working again has been helpful for the jet lag--they say a day per hour difference and it certainly hasn't taken me six days to adjust (unlike last time!).  Still, I'm not making any plans for this week because I need some serious down time during the evenings.

This jacket has been getting a ton of play lately, I brought it with me on our trip, and it was the perfect balance between edgy and warm when I needed it to be.  It's now available in a few other colours, too, so if taupe isn't your jam, you can find one that is.  Definitely a great investment piece for the wardrobe that you will wear for years to come.

ALL SAINTS LEATHER JACKET (SIMILAR, BUDGET FRIENDLY)  |  H&M SWEATER -- OLD (SIMILAR)  |  BLACK SKINNIES (SIMILAR, WANT THESE)  |  FRINGE BOOTS  |  BAG

My weekend began on Thursday, as we were heading out of town on Friday, but more on that in a second.  On Thursday evening, we met up with our friends for Thai food and catch ups.  Still fighting some jet lag, we called it an early night around 9:30pm, but it was still great to see them.

On Friday morning, you guessed it...

WEEKEND SHOPPING DEALS

Happy Sunday ladies!  We are finally back for good, after two weeks of living out of a suitcase--with only a brief 36 hours at home last week between Italy and heading to Toronto--it feels good to be home.  I've missed sitting at my computer and connecting with you!  I hope you've had a great weekend, it's been pretty rainy today for us, but that's okay.

It's been over a month since I've rounded up some weekend deals, so thought today would be a nice way to finish it off.  I'll be back tomorrow with a full recap of the weekend, see you then!

WHITE PANTS FOR FALL

O U T F I T   D E T A I L S  :  SWEATER (ALSO IN CAMEL)  |  H&M CHOKER (SIMILAR)  |  DISTRESSED WHITE SKINNIES (WANT THESE, BUDGET FRIENDLY)  |  NUDE PUMPS (SIMILARLOVE THESE & BUDGET FRIENDLY PATENT)  |  BAG (BUDGET FRIENDLY)

Hello hello!  I’m writing to you from the plane on our way home from Italy.  We had a wonderful trip and I’ll be sharing all of the photos and outfits in the coming week once I get organized.

Today I wanted to share a look I’m loving because anything with white pants is a-ok in my books!  Although this look is soft, it’s cozy at the same time with the sweater, and I love how this looks more dressed up with the nude pumps.  Throw on a tan or grey bootie, add a chunky scarf, and it would be great for a more casual situation.

HUGE FALL SALE

Shopbop is having their major fall sale where almost everything is 25% off!  You know I had to share my faves, especially since Shopbop houses a lot or pricier items, so if you had your eye on a splurge (or even a mini splurge), now would be the time.  I was stoked to see my sneakers and suede moto jacket in green both part of the sale.  Use code MAINEVENT16 until this Friday.

TIE FRONT BLOUSE & EASY BUSINESS CASUAL STYLE

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  KNOT FRONT SHIRT (SIMILAR, SPLURGE)  |  ALDO CHOKER (SIMILAR)  |  HIGH WAIST BLACK SKINNIES (SIMILAR)  |  PEEP-TOE BLOCK HEELS (SIMILAR)  |  BAG (BUDGET FRIENDLY)

Dressing up for me still usually means pants--unless it's a wedding--because I feel my best and most comfortable in them.  Same goes for business casual dressing because in order to feel confident, I need to feel like myself, and I need to feel comfortable.

I picked up this blouse a couple weeks ago and have already worn it a few times.  I love that it's a boat neck (universally flattering) so it works for the office, but the tie in the front and buttons up the back give it interest to keep it from being a boring white blouse.  I paired it with some black skinnies & fairly conservative heels, but you could dress it up with red strappy heels or down with some black booties for girls night out.

EASY FALL CASUAL OUTFIT

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  LONG SLEEVE THERMAL (ALSO HERE)  |  CHOKER  |  GUCCI SUNGLASSES (SIMILAR, BUDGET FRIENDLY)  |  DARK DENIM SKINNIES -- ON SALE! (BUDGET FRIENDLY -- 50% OFF!)  |  SUEDE BOOTIES (SIMILAR)  |  H&M FRINGE BAG (SIMILAR)

We are still in Italy, but will be home mid-week, but I'm back to regular posting again--yay for good Internet connections!  There are no Weekend Snaps today since we are still travelling, but I wanted to share my go-to Fall outfit, anytime I have free time or am heading out to run errands on the weekend.

These Free People thermals are my go-to, and since purchasing the black and cream colours in the Spring, I knew I had to splurge on this olive coloured one that came out this fall.  I know they are a little pricey, but the fit is amazing (size down), they are uber comfortable, wash well and I wear mine all the time.  Additionally, they are a great layering piece and believe me when I say, you will get your money's worth.

My style has evolved over the past couple years and I really love casual dressing, in neutral tones.  While I'm all for experimenting, once you nail down your personal style, investing in some great basics you will wear frequently, and are able to mix and match, will maximize your time outside of getting dressed for the day.  This denim is definitely not budget-friendly, I'm fully aware, but I've worn them to death and they still look brand new.  Bonus: they've been the most worn while in Italy because they feel like leggings (Christmas wish list anyone?).  Throw a pair of tan booties in and #outfitcomplete.

OUR STAY AT HOTEL DU LAC IN BELLAGIO - LAKE COMO

We arrived in Bellagio yesterday afternoon, travelling from Venice on the train, then by car to this beautiful, small town.  Situated in the province of Como, we were really excited to stay in the main part of the village at Hotel du Lac.  Situated directly across from the ferry, steps from amazing food and shops, the location really cannot be beat.

We checked into our hotel and headed out to explore the little town.  Bellagio is definitely a walk-able town, and you certainly won't need a car here.  There are, however, tons of stairs to go up and down, so flat, comfortable shoes are a must.  Poke around the boutiques, purchase Como-famous silk scarves or grab a gelato and take in the amazing views.

FOREVER 21 FINDS

F21 CHOKER (SIMILAR)

Happy Saturday!  I'm back with another round up of Forever 21 finds for you girls.  I'm loving all their fall merch that's hitting the stores.  Chokers are huge and if you haven't jumped on that trend yet, you totally should, and you can pull it off.  I couldn't find mine above online, but picked it up about a month ago so it might still be in stores.

Oversized cardis, surplice tops (ones that drape and cross in the front), bombers and lace up tops are all on trend items for going into the cooler months.

A few pieces I haven't included below but am loving are this drapey jacket in several colours, perfect for pairing with a denim and booties.  I'm also really loving this statement top which would be beautiful with a pencil skirt or cigarette pants for a Christmas party.  I'm still loving this faux leather moto vest, this poncho is super cute for this time of year, this budget-friendly double-buckle belt & how amazing are these rose gold metallic pants?!

FALL FASHION LOOKBOOK VIDEO

It's October and if you're in a cooler climate like me, I hope you're taking advantage of the boots, layers and general sweater weather.  Personally, I love wearing all my favourite suede and leather boots that I can't wear once the snow flies (because they will get ruined!).

Today I'm sharing a fun little fall lookbook with two, easy to recreate, outfits.  I'm also teaming up with my girl friend Jamie, from Glam Latte, as she's bringing a killer fall inspired make-up tutorial #thoselashestho.  So, click over if you're a beauty fan, and show her some love.

SOME OF MY FAVOURITE FALL ITEMS ON SALE

ALL SAINTS LEATHER JACKET (SIMILAR ON SALE)

I love a good sale, so when I saw that Bloomingdales is having their Friends & Family Sale, I wanted to put together a post with several items I already own, a few I'm coveting and a few of simply great deals.  Just enter FRIENDS when you check out to get an extra 25% off your purchase, until October 10.  Everything I'm listing after the jump is included in the sale!

The All Saints leather jacket above was a gift from Marco for Christmas last year--these jackets are amazing quality and they rarely go on sale.  I was shocked to see that All Saints is part of the sale and this jacket is what I would add to my collection next (if it wasn't already so similar to my current one!).

I'm still loving off the shoulder and there are two tops in the sale, at different price points, that are very similar to mine below, but even nicer.  I love that these ones are longer in the body--mine is a little cropped so it has to be worn with a high-waisted pant--and that they have long sleeves.  How cute would it look with a chunky scarf and boots?!

BELL SLEEVE WRAP DRESS & OVER THE KNEE BOOTS

O U T F I T  D E T A I L S  :  FLORAL DRESS -- 60% OFF! (SIMILAR)  |  ALDO GOLD CHOKER (SIMILAR)  |  OVER THE KNEE BOOTS  |  H&M FRINGE BAG (SIMILAR, BUDGET FRIENDLY)

Hello from Italy!  I was going to wait until tomorrow to post this look but this dress is selling out fast because it's super on sale!  We are having a great time, and are here until next week.  We are visiting a few different places and I've been sharing a ton on Insta--except for the first two days when I was without Internet almost the entire time! #firstworldprobs  I will definitely do a full recap upon return.

Back to the dress, the bell sleeves are super on trend and the wrap style is very flattering.  I sized up to a large to fit in the shoulders better, but the adjustable waist is great so a medium could have worked as well.
